My rig died a couple of weeks ago. It was one of the early Dec 2000 rigs.
I had batteries in the radio.
I had it connected into my new Tokyo HiPower amp.
I pluged in the external power cable to my big 62 AH gell cell battery.
Pressed PTT and about 2-3 watts came out of the amp. Just about nothing from
the radio. It worked fine the day before this happen,
No mods, no 10 watts. Direct keying from radio to amp.
Sent to Yaeus on a Monday morning, received phone call Friday afternoon
fixed. $47 for the final module, $75 for one hour labor. I asked, and
received, the removed failed module.
On the paperwork it mention changing the module, testing, and tweaking, to
factory specs. And they did some mods involving changes, or removal, of a
couple of resistors and caps. Something to do with protection. No other
details given.
