[ Accessorize me (longish)]

adds?
#1 - a cw filter. I have the 300 and am really impressed with it.
#2 - the W4RT battery accessory (www.w4rt.com). DOn't have one yet, but it's
on the list.
#3 - the Hugh McCully book on the FT-817. Concise and much better than the
factory manual.

Thanks to the crowd, I've been lurking for a while and decided to
jump in. 1 FT-817 is shipping Monday from Gigaparts!

(Aside - ordered with 3 day shipping, George check the time to
travel, found that ground was 2 days, and since ground was free -
shipped it GROUND!! Now that's service!)

Well, now for the fun part. I've followed the discussions (or is
that cuss'ins) on the various add-ons. What do you consider your 3
most important adds to the rig?

I know this can be dependent on planned usage so here her goes.
Planning on using it as 1) portable to my folks mountain "retirement"
home, ditto the in-laws. Great trees to string a temp long wire
(thinking z-11 and some random length wire?)

Batteries?
Other antenna for walking around the country side? (my folks are in
the middle of nowhere!)
ETC?

Thanks for any advice - Have a great weekend!

1) Hugh McCully book on the FT-817
2) ZM-2 ATU
3) Power source considerations be it Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries, 7.5 amp
gel-cel, or a large 115vac wall-wart. I preferr the 7.5 amp gel-cel, but
your choice

I've seen two references on this list so far to a book by Hugh McCully about
the FT-817. This is the first I've heard of it. I'm seriously considering
getting an 817, and this book sounds like just what I need to help make the
decision. Ordering information and pricing would be helpful. Thanks in
advance.

$9.95 = $3.50 S & H (total US $13.45)

Great book! Jo K5HOY

I own one of Hugh's books and I highly recommend it. It is called "Pack-It
Reference for the FT-817"

I know of at least one source and that is the W4RT Electronics website:

www.w4rt.com

They are available with online ordering.

I also believe they are available from GigaParts at: www.gigaparts.com
also with online ordering.

Both sources have good reputations for excellent service.
