Hi Tony,
BAD IDEA if you love your 817! The resistor is 10 ohms and 1/16 W.
MAX current (ignoring heat sinking) is about 80 mA. You will zap it
in short order. Also, the Z-11 have a limited range of operating
voltages. When on battery, the ACC output voltage is too low.
How about a pair of NiCd or NiMH 9V batteries in series (14.4 V)
works great and are small. I get several hundred tunes for a single
charge.
