Please do not attach files like picture files to messages sent to mail list
like this one. Although I have a reasonable fast connection and it doesn't bother me too much,I know that others dislike this because "uninteresting/interesting" files take up time to download on slow connections. Publish to a web site insted and supply a link. regards Bjrnung Jensen |

Pictures, pictures, keep the photos. Make 'em low-res and not too big. Then

I did just that. There's these settings in your profile that allows you to: 1. choose every mail or a digest 2. HTML e-mail or plain text (Plain text strips any attachment) So I guess it's your choice. Erik OZ1GIY --- In FT817@..., Bj?rnung Jensen <bjjen13b@o...> wrote:

Hi John,
Yes, I have seen it. Actually that's where the fake FT-817 came from... So in the interest of fairness, we should mention any copyright statsment here...... HI HI. No, honestly, if you look at the tread on antenna tuners and backpacks, msg. 326 and onwards, this picture demonstrates the setup I wrote about. |

I agree with Bjornung; it is poor nettiquite to send unsolicited photos, as folks with a slow connection can't receive them and it can lock up their email so they can't access anything. Posting photos to the webpage gives people a choice.

Living way out in the field has its disadvantages; long phone lines that =
long down load times. Posting on the web page make more sense to me; as in viewing a collection of JPG's. I always thought attachments were poor etiquette and were great ways to get a virus! But then hey what do i know living in the woods. HI 72 de K0YO mike |
Respectfully submitted, yes, you should remove the ability. Not because we don't enjoy the pictures - I have no problems with a .jpg or .bmp file being sent. However, the abilty to propogate an attachment provides the hacker a means to send malevolent files, such as .vbs scripts or .exe files that can spread virii. Yes, I have a virus scanner that is kept as current as possible - but that's only as good as the last threat. If the server can allow .jpg files ONLY that would be a good compromise between sending pics and protecting the unsuspecting recipient. Ed, N5EM |
