Narrow filter CW

Hello,

? is there still a chance to get a filter for the Yeasu 817nd?

? I saw some on EBay, but the asking price is a lot. ?I saw some compatible filters that could be used with a custom filter board.

regards,

I have some Collins Mechanical filters available.

The following filters are Collins Mechanical
Filters designed for a 455.0 KHz IF. This
means they have characteristics generally
considered better than crystal filters.
These are no longer being manufactured.

These filters fit a variety of rigs. I know
for sure they fit the TenTec Omni VII. I am
told that they also fit Yaesu FT8xx as well
as Yaesu FT-1000/1000MP, AOR 5000 or
AOR 7030.

Collins 526-8693-010
500 Hz CW filter
Also known as TenTec 2031, or Yaesu YF-122C
or YF-115C or AOR MF-500 or InRad 705C

Collins 526-8733-010
300 Hz narrow CW filter
Also known as TenTec 2032, or Yaesu XF-115CN,
or YF-122CN or InRad 712.

Filters are $200 each, plus shipping from Florida.

Thanks. 73,

As an alternative look at the scaf filter from kanga-products.co.uk.? There is a video of it in use on the page.

Interesting!

I have an 817ND with the Vertex YF-122C CW filter. I don't use it because I only operate phone but I'm reluctant to part with it as it would add value if I sold the rig.

I wonder how many other filters are lying around unused for the same reason?

I would sell the filter if ?no longer needed/used. ?Many owners operate CW and that filter makes a big difference. The demand is there if you want to monetize that CW filter.?

Well they certainly seem to fetch good money. There's one currently on eBay from Japan selling at 258 UK pounds ...

Here is a filter which outperforms the Yaesu CW narrow filter for the FT-817 / 857 at much?less cost.
Further information can be found via Youtube on how to install the Sotabeams filter.

Hi i have just seen one on ebay, Dave 2E0DMB

it ended?

The sotabeams is an audio filter. You can do that with box on the headphone cable, or possibly a phone app, Or your laptop, Not the kind of thing at all as an IF filter.

It really doesn't.... It operates in the audio path. I have one in my 817 and it's nowhere near as effective as a proper if filter. It also creates spurious images of strong stations. It's only marginally better than having no filter at all.

HI Jean

I have located a Collins XF-115C safely stored in my shack, if you are?interested?
