Re: Digital input sensitivity
I find that using pkt on VHF/UHF has different sound levels than using DIGI
on HF. I haven't found a difference in sound levels among the various HF
bands.

Digital input sensitivity
Hi all, a little help.
Is the digital input sensitivity always the same for all bands?
Or I can have a different input volume for a specific band (VHF, in my case).
Tnx in advance

Re: FT-817 Replacement
There is a fairly good video on YouTube right now showing it at the Tokyo ham fair. They were able to video the front and back of the radio, looks like the video captures the AMU and cooling fan unit.

Re: FT-817 Replacement
My guess is that it will be priced below the Icom IC-705 because there is no WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS on board. It does however have FT-101 sdr architecture on-board. The Xiegu X-6200 is a bit cheaper,

Re: FT-817 Replacement
I purchased my FT-818ND in February 2019 for 2840PLN (polish zloty). I cannot find what was the exact exchange ratio between PLN and USD, but it was about 4-4.5, so we have about $630-710, and

Re: FT-817 Replacement
I hope that it provides a transmitter-inhibit input pin, and band data.? It will be a great radio for my VHF/UHF/SHF Rover station.
Too bad it does not have 222 MHz.? :-(

Re: FT-817 Replacement
The FT-818 when it was discontinued in Dec of 2022 was much closer to the initial FT-817 price from 2001 of $670 that it is to $1,200 today.
I can't find hard numbers, but I think the FT-818 was

Re: FT-817 Replacement
The 817 was $670 at its introduction in 2001, that's around $1200 today (https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/2001?amount=670). About the price of a midrange gaming computer.

Re: FT-817 Replacement
It's an SDR radio, neither the 991a nor the 891 are SDRs, so not the same technology.

Re: FT-817 Replacement
Good to know if it's the same technology as it's predecessors (891, 991).
Maybe just an external package upgrade and a colour display!?!?

It might be fun to have a pool on dimensions and weight, especially given that as near as I can tell the depth of the radio can’t be inferred from the size of the display in the pic, as height and
