SCM with their version of PCS

Looks like SCM is introducing their safety system, Blade Off, at IWF. Anyone know any details? Appears to be based upon vision and/or proximity sensors.

SCM was running demos of this machine at Fensterbau-Frontale/Holz-Handwerk in March. Seemed like a nice machine, I think it took less than a minute to reset the machine.?

Thanks Tom. Hopefully, the competition drives the price down.

Tom, that was a nice saw! Aside from the safety feature I liked the fine adjust on the cross fence.

I asked about it when I was waiting for my saw. This option is €10k on its own at the time.?

I had replied about this on a Facebook post...

"I have operated the SCM Blade Off while I was in Italy to learn about it and we were prepping to bring it stateside. It will be introduced to the USA at IWF. It is not like the Felder PCS, nor is it similar to the Altendorf Hand Guard. Without giving too much away at this juncture it is an invisible "field" that surrounds the blade group, like a Halo of protection of sorts, on three sides (front of the blade and two sides). The blade disappears before you can possibly contact it, maybe 3 inches or so before you get to it. It also works faster than any other system out there. The operator can be, practically, running while performing a cut and still not get to the blade before it retracts. I can't tell you how nerve wracked I was the first time I put my hand in harm's way on purpose. The system will also force any operator to work more safely, whether they want to or not, as there is no way to get your digits close to the blade. Hope to see anyone who is interested there in Atlanta!"
