Hello All,
After joining couple of Felder facebook groups, I wanted a group that was regional. Goal being that along with all the benefits one could drive from such group, there is a possibility of people getting to know each other, especially ones that are located near each other.
With this thought, I created Midwest Felder Owners Group on Facebook. After I announced it on the two Felder groups, people really wanted to join, even though they are not in midwest. I figured there is strength in numbers so it is open to all. However, I feel strongly about my initially stated goal. So hopefully, in time, perhaps with ideas from others, we will figure out a way to do so. Maybe, we will end up with multiple regions covering all of USA, who knows.

I am very new here and find this group a super resource, including your own contributions.
I get your objective but just want to say that I will never participate in any FB, Twitter, IG, or other similarly organized group.? I do not expect you to change your plans.? I only wish to point out that others may also have this position, which may limit your audience.
These platforms can be very useful, however I choose not to contribute to their financial success at my own expense, so will never participate in any of their offerings.? Hopefully there will be a platform that is more broadly appealing for your initiative.
If not, I hope to learn more from you here and look forward to contributing meaningfully to this group.? However you decide to go I wish you success and I would gladly participate in another type of forum with you.

I appreciate and applaud your frankness... I've had the opportunity to manage very large IT organizations, and have learned to minimize my electronic footprint - I come out of hiding for valuable resources, such as this Forum (I wish that I had more to contribute to the this very fine Group...).

First, I have learned everything I know about Felder machines here and have no plan to leave this group neither do I plan to stop sharing.
All social media have their baggage and I appreciate your concerns. I am sure I am helping Facebook by being on it and as a result they get to advertise to me. There is however no advertisement on this group. I use whattsapp (now owned by facebook) to communicate to my extended family in Asia, Europe & Australia, so while I have concerns similar to yours, I succumb to its usefulness.
As I mentioned earlier, I would still like to have a way to organize a local/regional group. If you have any suggestions for this, please contact me offline.

I'd be happy to participate Imran. Facebook and Instagram can advertise to me all they want. It costs me nothing and I gain much from the ease of communication with people I may have not seen in person in 30 years or my whole life. I've even sold some of my work and acquired new work from posting about it's creation. Erik, I agree they are not the most scrupulous company, but I use them as much as they use me. Amazon on the other hand can suck it. I won't give them a dime.

I'd be interested in the facebook group.? I'm on there anyway, and communications are simpler than from a list.? I can scroll past facebook posts that aren't of interest just as easily as I can delete similar posts here.? Jeff

I am not a FB fan mostly because of the spread of misinformation - however like Jason I can connect with friends from 35yrs ago, if everyone was on IG I would dump it. IG is great, it’s so cool to connect with other folks all over the world, for me to think that I am so important that if I dumped both FB and IG it would make a difference would be ridiculous.
