My New k740 saw is not working

Hi guys!

I’ve got a new brand new saw and I can’t get the machine running.

it’s a felder k740 5.5kw 230v 3phase?

the motor won’t start…
the emergency button is off, main power switch is on and blade cover is on.
I have tried multiple combinations with the 3phase wiring and have tested the outlet with another machine.

i can hear a small clicking when I connect it to power and when I push the on button.
other than that nothing happening?

im waiting on answer from the dealership/felder but it’s been a couple days already and I really need to get the saw running…

any suggestions?

thanks

You sure you twisted the e-stop and it popped back out?

Hi Marcus,

Besides popping the Estop (You may try engaging it and popping it out to be sure) as Brian mentioned, there are 2 other micro switches on my K975. Your saw is different but ensure that the blade cover is closed and if there is a door under the outfeed extension table, it is properly shut as well.

Do you have any lights on the control panel? If so what is the status?

Yep, tried with it twisted out and pushed in just to be sure

tried the e stop as Brian and you suggested but still nothing.

haven’t double checked the back panel, but it’s on and can’t recall seeing any micro switches there either.

micro switch on the bladcover is engaged.

Don’t think there’s any lights on this saw as it’s ?manual rise/fall/tilt and unfortunately no scoring blade…( sales man didn’t mention it was an option… though it was standard on this saw aggregate)

You are going to have to get permission to open up the electrical panel and have them give you some trouble shooting to do. Especially with a brand new machine that could have had wires jiggle loose in shipment.

There was a wiring connector below the slider that needed to be plugged in on my saw. I believe this was the wire for the switch on the end of the slider. A possibility?

Thanks for the suggestion jack.
it’s connected.
did you’re saw not turn on without it??

just curious, maybe it’s something wrong with the switch on my slider?

Check that connector closely, mine got caught and it pulled the pin just enough that it wouldn’t make contact there was no visible damage, I noticed that one pin was slightly shorter than the other

Yes, my display came on and everything seemed to be in order but the blade would not turn on. No blinking indicator, nothing! A quick jiggle on that connection and it worked. I also had an issue with sawdust on the ways interfering with that switch. Bizarre, but doubt that would be an issue on a brand new saw.?

Those were the only things I could think of. Sorry, just noted, you had already mentioned blade cover. As Brian mentioned, you have to work with Felder now. With clicking you mentioned, I imagine a phase is missing.

We had that clicking noise when out 3phase convertor lost power. ?Is voltage input good?

Hi Mike.?

think the voltage is good.?

tried the outlet with another machine and it worked just fine.

has to be something with the saw I’m afraid :(

I dont know how Felder operate in USA. are you able to get a technician in?
normally if its here in New Zealand, it involves with a technician onsite to commission the machine, all inclusive.?

Hi Albert.

im from Norway, so dont know how felder operate in the USA.
the dealership here in Norway was supposed to help me tune up the saw once I got it assembled and connected to power… but now they want to research what the problem might be before they come out to “commission”.
this "service" is included as well, but kinda sad it didn’t go as planned ?

Thanks for all the suggestions, I found the problem thanks to jack and mark.

after fiddling with the connector from the switch on the slider the saw finally turned on!
Seem to be I quite delicate connection, but all good now

thanks again

Glad you got it going.

Excellent, glad it’s up and running.?

I had this issue on my K3, I was over engaging the switch for the blade cover, kind of slamming it closed.? Now I know to just pop it into the detent.?
