Hey all
?
I was browsing the group and out of curiosity I had a look at the groups.io pricing page. It looks like we are well beyond the free plan so first of, thank you to however is keeping the lights on.
Secondly I don't see a donate button /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/using-the-sponsorship-feature-to-defray-groups to help pitch in
?
Regards?
Bram

I've been paying the fees since we started with groups (2018), except for one year when John Renzetti paid. I had originally thought about setting up a donation system, but then was seeing posts about "what happens if the donations are more than the expenses, who keeps the money?" and figured I didn't need that head ache and just left it be.

Indeed! Thank you very much for this valuable resource. Much appreciated!
|
Like others in our group, I find it unreasonable that Brian Lamb finds himself saddled with the financial costs associated with maintaining the FOG. The other cost, his time, and the many contributions he, and others have made that benefit all of us is impossible to calculate. I am grateful for the knowledge and experience he has shared with all of us. I also don't want him to stop, simply because this forum is my primary source for everything Felder and a major contributor to my woodworking knowledge base. Nothing is forcing him to donate his money and time to this project. ?When it becomes a burden that is no longer of value to him, the forum will be in trouble unless another benefactor steps up.
?
I can't speak for the rest of you, but I know I don't have the time or the inclination to take over when Brian tires of this project. ?Compensating Brian for the time Brian has spent maintaining the FOG is not practical for a variety of reasons. ?However, we could easily repay him for the fees he has paid.
?
To that end, I suggest Brian post the total amount of money he has expended in fees. ?And, set up a Venmo account or similar vehicle to which we can contribute. ?When donations reach or exceed the fees he has paid, he can simply close the Venmo account, or similar vehicle, and announce no further donations are needed, until more funds are needed.
?
I am happy to contribute, and I am certain there are many more like minded.
