I 'm a hobby woodworker with a Hammer C3-31 and I 've been interested?in power feeders for a while now. I was wondering if any of the more experienced users could shed their light on this kickstarter model vs the H32 model from felder . Price wise they are about the same if I include shipping and import duties to the EU.
Hi Bram, I have a Hammer B3 with an HC 308 feeder which is similar to the C3.
The feeder you provided a link too has a couple of show stoppers in my opinion
1) it uses an electromagnet to clamp it to the table, that means you wouldn’t be able to use it with the shaper, as it would have to mount on the sliding table.
2) the shaper often requires the feeder to be tilted on the side so it can push against the fence, I don’t see how the other feeder could do that
3) feeders like the HC 32 can exert significant pressure on the workpiece to control the work with the shaper, even during synchronized (climb) cutting operations
I like the electro magnet if there is cast iron around to mount it to.? If the back end support was a magnet too, it would maybe mount more universally.??
In the mean time, I have a old-new-stock, never used feeder for sale if anyone is interested.? I have lots more pictures.
Ultimately, this Auto-cut kickstarter feeder looks like a great light-weight easy to attach/remove solution for a traditional cabinet saw.? This would not work for a sliding table saw or a shaper.
Guys, I have been lucky with no leaks on vario4 when it was upside down on tilt bracket for many yrs. However, some have reported leaks here (IIRC, F48) due to the seal drying up during storage.
Yes, it happened?to my F48 after leaving it upside down for 5 years.?
Here below is the response from Felder Mississauga. Now I put the power feeder upright when not in use. It is ONE MORE PAIN of KF combo for me cause I need to put it upside down if the cut width is more than 12 inches.
