Impeller Suppliers?

Good afternoon !

A friend who owns a small commercial cabinet shop asked if I had any idea where he could source a replacement impeller for his dust collection system. I told him about this group and that I would reach out for help.
Two days ago, the system stopped working and threw the breaker . When they opened up the ?access to the cyclone they discovered that the aluminum impeller had disintegrated.? The impeller is 17.5 inches in diameter and 7.5 inches in height. 1 3/8 shaft connected to a 15 hp motor. Any ideas / contacts appreciated. The unit is an AFS Cyclone but they are out of business.

Thanks in advance.?

My first thought was custom?fab shop templating and making replica would be only way to be a perfect replacement. But then you get into balancing dynamics and lots of other sophistications a general fab shop?might not be capable of... At that cost, a whole replacement cyclone might be more feasible....

Perhaps these are decent starting points for compatible parts that might be sitting on a warehouse shelf?

Tim,?

I’ve used New York Blower for similar impellers in the past too.?

This one is interesting as it appears to have been somewhat adjustable which is not something I’m used to in dust collectors, but I’ve also never seen a 15 hp one.?

I have had several made for customers by a machine shop with no issues. There are multiple brands made in Taiwan that are the same machine with different stickers on them and all use a 17" impeller.?

It appears the base is intact. If all of the fins are identical it may not be as bad to reproduce them. I am assuming one of them is intact in original shape.

Just a thought.

Yes, the base appears to be intact. I mentioned fabrication but they were concerned about balancing and the turnaround time since they are operating wide belt and a couple of machines on smaller temp collectors. Thanks Chris and Imran.

I personally wouldn't go to a non-specialist for an impeller driven by a 15 HP motor.? Especially when companies like Cincinnatti Fan sell such things for pretty reasonable prices.? Why risk the problems of a poorly balanced repair/replacement?

Yes, I totally agree there. I live in this world (medium sized BOP hardware for power lands, etc.) and stuff this big is really a specialist job. Not saying that a sheet metal shop can’t make a replica, some certainly could, and do a great job, but the balancing aspect is important as is understanding the actual fan curve.?

An impeller is a low speed device and basic static balancing does the job and that is all any manufacturer does and some may not even do that. The ones I had made were a direct copy of a Clearvue impeller and worked perfectly fine. If it was turning at 10000 rpm then the conversation would be different of course.
