Felder digital stop LCD fogging
Hello everyone.? I have an interesting problem.? Two of the digital flip stop LCDs have developed this haziness.? I am not sure when it started because I haven't used the saw for a while.? Only the LCDs of the cross-cut fence have this problem.? The LCDs of the rip fence and the option-604-118 flip stop are clear, no fogging.? I contacted Felder asking for advise on buffing/cleaning this.? Tech support responded with proposal to replace the LCDs, no advise on solution for buffing/cleaning.??
?
?
?
I have yet to see this problem surfaced on FOG.? Any suggestion on a cleaning/buffing technique and chemical?? This reminds me of automobile head light plastic housing developing a haziness over time.??
?
Felder quotes $104 for each LCD.? Shipping cost is quoted to be $50-70.? For two LCDs that is match-box size and weigh about 1-2 oz combined, I wonder why the shipping cost is so high.??
?
Thanks.

开云体育I assume LCD display is fine and the haze is on the clear plastic cover. Can you tell if it is on the inside or the outside? If inside, I would try to disassemble and see if it can be cleaned. I assume it is possible to get to it since Felder is suggesting replacing the LCDs. Do you live in a humid area? There used to be a plastic film that protect the LCD plastic from scratch when the saw first shipped.? I removed that after the saw was commissioned a long time ago.? I don't remember if there was any residue in between the two surfaces.? If there was, I probably wiped it off.? The pattern of the fogging looks as if there is a thin film on top of the LCD, but there isn't.? It also looks to be on the surface of the LCD plastic, not inside.? I live in northern California, where it is not terribly humid, so it is not condensation from moisture and temp fluctuations.? The climate here is mild.? |
开云体育Hi Shinta,If it is the LCD screen and the segments are garbled or there is contamination within then you have to replace the LCD. The display can be in DIP (dual in line package) package, which is easier to replace. Lift up the old one out of socket and carefully drop in the new one. It could also be soldered on a header, which means you need to desolder them with a solder sucker. Not terrible but bit more work. Make sure you are well grounded when handling the display to avoid damage due electrostatic discharge. I am surprised that Felder actually supplies them. If I am cynical, perhaps there is a reason. 开云体育Aaron,I have always said NO to the air shipment charge from Europe and opted for the 4-6 week delay. Which means that the parts come on the scheduled monthly shipment. I also make sure that the quote states No on partial shipment. This means all parts are shipped one time avoiding extra shipping charges. I have never Not received my order. Just sharing a different experience. Imran Malik On Oct 15, 2024, at 11:50?AM, Aaron Inami via groups.io <ainami@...> wrote:

开云体育Here is my order from this year and see the DNSP note (circled). I have never had to contest it but if they do not follow the quote, I will definitely ask for a refund.Imran Malik On Oct 15, 2024, at 12:45?PM, Imran Malik <imranindiana@...> wrote:
