Aigner Sawboy

I wonder if someone has experience using the Aigner Sawboy jig?

Aigner Sawboy

?

When I had a regular cabinet saw I used to work with a L fence jig for cutting patterns using templates (I find it more accurate then flush trim on a router table)

I just found out that Aigner has a product that function as L-fence and I wonder if someone has a familiarity with this product? (or has a better way to pattern cut on a slider)

I do not have it, but Aigner sawboy does exactly like the L-fence jig does, it mounts on the rip fence. You can mount your L-fence jig to the rip fence on the slider too. Aigner sawboy's build and finish is just super nice and more expensive.

I have the sawboy on a kf700sp and being able to find tune connected to the rip fence makes it a dream to work with for any straight cuts. Really handy for copy template work. Easy to install/remove after initial setup.? Would buy again.

Lay your stock Felder fence in the low position upside down, you have the same thing for free.

No. The Sawboy jig is positioned above the blade.

So is the Felder fence if you flip it upside down.... Although the height isn't adjustable like the Aigner, so I can see where there might be limitations, but the 3/4" or so height work I was doing, it worked perfectly.

Oh I see what you mean. That is a good hack if the height works for you.

I have used it and it works well for sawing odd shaped objects with straight edges.

Regards, Rod

I have had one for about 14 years and use it works well but does not get used all that much.? ?It is a quality made product and easy to adjust.? I have used it for pattern cutting but more frequently for edging veneers sandwiched in my veneer edging jig.? I doubt that I would have purchased the Sawboy if it wasn't included with the saw that I purchased used.

Hi Steve,
Can you show us what this veneer cutting setup looks like in conjunction with the Sawboy?

Jason,
This video shows how I edge seam veneers using the Sawboy.? The first half of the video shows several uses of the jig.

If anyone interested.
?
I bought a Sawboy from S&S and apparently there are more than one version of it.
mine came with a T nut on the back.?

The version that Felder sales is the one with two Kipp lever that attached to the rip fence from above.
This is something I can’t do with the version I have.
I need to see if Aigner can sale only the back fence.
?

Netanel,

The version you have connects to the rip fence via the bolt. If fence is thick enough it can be tapped, if not then the nuts secures it with a clearance hole in the fence.

If the hole height is compatible with the rip fence it should work. Maybe you know this and just don’t prefer this attachment method.

Imran,
?
I was just thinking about why I wouldn’t just drill and tap the rip fence.
Besides having a hole in the fence, that is perfect solution.

Drill the fence extrusion and install a press fit threaded insert like this (that matches the bolt) :?

Netanel,

Well that is how it is intended to be used.?Aigner products are usually well thought out.?Download the Aigner catalog. It has a lot of pictures showing how to use the product. I would just check the fence profile to verify it is compatible with wherever the hole/tap/insert (as David mentioned) needs to be.
