Use a current sensor that starts a starter and loop one leg of each tools thru it , I can figure it out and I am at first grade level so electrical engineers ought be able to figure it out. Designing and building for 50 years

Mac,
I have that setup. Every machine starts the DC automatically but I had the power to VFD off. DC runs of the VFD. I could automate the VFD as well but I think I want something left for my brain ?

I guess I am missing something why have an auto system if the dust-collector is already running ? Designing and building for 50 years

DC is not running but VFD has power. When a machine turns on, the current sensor closes a relay which grounds the VFD 24 VDC signal. That causes VFD to provide 3 phase power to DC turning it on.
I forgot to turn power to the VFD on.

I have started to wear one. A benefit of pandemic and also because now that I am retired, I am in shop much more than weekends. Unfortunately, I did not have one on when this happened. The fine cloud jettisoned at the end of the video is something ....
