Hello all,
So, I mothballed my 220v RL125 for a couple of years and have just set it up again. It was working fine for about 20 min and then mysteriously cut off. I checked connections, let it just “sit” for the customary five magical minutes, and started it up again. This time it ran for about five minutes. It sounds just like it should, with excellent full suction. I have also a RL150 so I know the machine and how it should perform.
Any clues as to why it cut off?
Thank you.

Have you checked the amp draw with the gates open?? Dave

It sucks deceiving well turning backwards. If you redid the plug then switch any two wires. This assumes it is 3 phase.

I have a clamp on amp meter for non vfd machines.??? Clamp the meter around each wire going to the motor.? Check amps at idle ( gates closed on a DC ) and also with all gates open.? compare the high amp reading to the FLA number on the motor plate.? You may
find out that isn't a problem but you will learn something about motors.? Counter intuitive, at least to me, but the motor works the hardest with gates open and pulling air.? Dave

Imran, It’s 220v single phase.?
The motor is inside a not designed to be accessible motor. The amperage should be the same no matter where on the circuit, right? So I am going to make a short split cord to place between the machines plug and the outlet. That should tell me what I need to know, right?

Yup. one hot cable in the clamp anywhere in circuit as long as nothing else is drawing current on the circuit.
