OT: What is the name of this type of clip?

This is thoroughly off topic,? but I figured of you probably knows the answer.? ?I have a set of tin snips that needs sharpening.? The jaws are held in place by two pivot pins that are held in place by round spring steel clips.? What is the name of this type of clip?? ?Also is there a tool for removing them?? (At the point I plan on pounding out the pivot pins with a drift pin or a punch.?

When I've removed similar clips from motor shafts I've used a flat head screw driver.? ?I'm concerned I may damage the clips removing them and I want to be able to get replacements,? but not knowing what they are called complicates that.?

I cannot make out the clip in your photo. Google ¡°circlip¡± and see if that is what you are dealing with.

Get a snap ring plier set with different sizes of tips. Not expensive and available at places like Home Depot, and really handy to have around.

I have several snap ring pliers.? ?The issue for me is that it isn't a snap ring.? ?It completely surrounds the pin and has six spring steel tabs that hold it in place.? ?When I've removed these in the past from motor shafts,? I've damaged them.?

Michael,
I'd forget trying to remove that thing and just use a small diamond stone to do those edges.
