¿ªÔÆÌåÓý#10 SO Cord will handle 30 amps with the correct twist lock cord caps. ?That will easily handle the 5hp load, and the 30¡¯ length is not a problem for voltage loss. ?If you want an extra safety margin, you can increase it to #8 SO cord, though that may be a bit overkill. ?Have the electrician mount the outlet next to the service panel in the garage, with the appropriate size breaker. ?You can easily build the extension cords to meet your needs. ?If you plan to run multiple machines at the same time, such as a dust collector, and the planer, you will need two, or more, outlets, with cords sized appropriately. Just don¡¯t use an extension cord that has wire too small for the breaker that is installed in the panel for that outlet. Alex On Feb 1, 2020, at 3:58 PM, Michael Glaser <1michaelglaser1@...> wrote:

Re: Another extension cord question.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMichael, I do this in my shop, by choice. All my outlets are congregated next to the electrical board. Then I have extension cords in appropriately sized flex, and run these at the ceiling and zip tied to extraction runs.?I like this installation method for two reasons: it¡¯s cheaper as the electrician can wire up outlets side by side with a minimum of fuss, materials and labour. And while the flex extensions and plugs on either end aren¡¯t cheap, it means I can easily move my machines around and not worry about outlets being in the wrong place.? Re: Another extension cord question.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWire is wire, make your own extension cords in the appropriate gauge. I have wired a pig tail on a couple machines and share one big extension cord. If cost is a real concern maybe you could share just one extension cord till you move.Mark

Another extension cord question.
I¡¯ll get straight to it. We are stuck in a rental for the next year maybe two years and I am not wanting to run wire from the breaker box 30¡¯ to the other side of the garage where the machines will be located. It has be completed by a licensed bonded electrician. And the quote was a fortune. I got several quotes as a matter of fact. The quote was a third less if I chose to have the receptacles next to the breaker box.? So, I want to run extension cords but am weary (rightfully so probably)? I need to know what is the Longest run that is suitable for: -grizzly?G0858 jointer |
Re: Router Spindle
Hi Bill,
I've got a 424-111 (I don't remember the number but that must be it) that I no longer need. I bought it for my 2012 CF741 combo. I eventually sold that machine and bought separates, including a Profil45 and I had to buy a different router spindle for it. The spindle is as good as new with little use (I'm a hobbyist). There are no collets because I use them on my new machine. but they're not expensive. I'd sell it for half price, plus a few bucks for shipping. Give me a call if you'd like, 801 647-2919 |

Re: Vibrating cyclone filters clean
Ed, I have used a 4" spare hose to recirculate from the cleanout port while running with success, but you have to have it directly on the port BEFORE you start the unit. However for cleaning the filters, I've found?it's better to leave the system powered down so the air pressure isn't pushing the dust against the filter media and instead drops to the bottom. Otherwise then it's just a quick swipe with the festool CTmidi with no risk of getting a facefull of dust the other way. :) The unit is just mounts with a couple of 2" kreg screws and #8 washers on an eccentric to the filter housing, and the air line I installed a valve to easily kick on/off at intervals or when I notice the airflow decreasing. It's really only been an issue with this cyclone when we don't pay attention to the dust bin filling up and allow it to? overflow - but that's the biggest pain to clean up the filters and get running correctly again. Re: Vibrating cyclone filters clean
Neat idea. I wonder if it would help to shut all the gates and use a shop vac in the clean out port. Pulling a little air through the filters while it shakes loose might help. Would you mind posting a couple pics or a video of your install? I'm getting to mount my CV1800 soon and look for ideas on what others have done.

Re: Vibrating cyclone filters clean
Randy, fear not - so long as you are sealed back up, I'm sure you are fine. I just added a leg this week and had to re-check all the clear inlet fittings, the Dynaflex 230 waterbased elastomer is the answer for us for leaks/seals. Also, I checked the top of our cyclone, we do have the same accumulation in our cyclone as you do, no worries. I was impressive that Bill Pentz himself (my hero for dust solutions) answered that conversation the way he did! Joe - Oops - the internet is full of ahem "organic" answers to innocent questions. this link will give you options and sizes.? Re: Vibrating cyclone filters clean
I have the same issue with build up at the top of the cyclone like the video shows..I was assured by the inventor Bill Pentz that this is not an issue and does not hurt anything.. I however jumped the gun before I found out from Bill to just leave it, I ended up drilling a 2" hole so I could get my shape vac inside and suck all the sawdust out.. I plugged the hole with a plumbing type plug that expands in the opening as you tighten it and it works very well, but wished I had just left it alone as Bill suggested..sometimes I act in haste and end up regretting it even though it hurt nothing and the suction is still as good as before I drilled it..
