Re: AWFS Updates
Michael,
After talking to the Shaper people, they convinced me that gen 1 was sufficient for me.? The screen is slightly larger and has higher resolution but after using the gen 1 it seems to not affect capabilities.? The new gen 2 is taller, but it is the same router in the machine. I think the discount was a booth/ in-person thing. Gen 2 is made in the Festool factory, not sure if that is a benefit or not as most of the gen 1 owners like the quality. I did like the shark RS1000 router table.? The demo was great too.? I had a "CNC" router lift before - I had to get it fixed 3 times...? I can wait a bit on that one. PK |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIbsenafshar,Thanks for this information. Seattle is not that far from me. ? This is good information to have. In 2009 Felder supplied upgraded modular electronics for my 2000 CF731 and walked me through the installation. ?It was nice to have easily repairable electronics consisting of off the shelf parts. Re: AWFS Updates
Hi Dan. Can you send me an email (egmiii@...). We can setup a time if you wanted to stop by to see the Barth and Rangate carts. I can also get a few questions answered on the speed sander. I assume you like it. Biggest issue is getting it into my basement shop. I would obviously have to take the table off to fit it through the door. Not sure if that can be done in the field.

Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
If you want a full size bench that is semi mobile get one of these:?
i have three of them. I use a lever bar on wheels to drag them around. It isn't super easy to turn, as my lever bar doesn't pivot and neither do the back wheels. They are solid. I added 2.5¡± solid hard maple 4x8 butcher block tops (450 each at the time) on each of them and voila a heavy duty modern work bench that is super adjustable. I use them to flip tables, sand at various heights, and everything else. I would like to add a veritas end vise and some dog holes at some point but cant be bothered by it now. Bessey quick clamps do the job. |
Re: Failed engine brake 220v single phase C3-31
Joe,
I use Condor Electronics in Seattle? Most of the amps at most of the rock concerts we used to go to are still in use and they are full of capacitors with a 15 to 20 year lifespan that have to be replaced, plus musicians have all sorts of older electronics that have enough value to be repaired and not tossed. I would try starting with someone who sells guitar amps and similar and find out who repairs them. |
Re: Rangate 300 Lift Cart
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMy main criteria is the height adjustability of the assembly/work table as close to 4x8 as I can support. As such, I¡¯ve been looking into the larger carts and possibly an industrial hydraulic pump scissor lift at this price range. Re: AWFS Updates
My favorite show item was the shark RS1000 pro router table. It¡¯s like they¡¯ve added CNC control to a router table. It has a touchscreen with built-in joinery cuts like dadoes. It can even do biscuit cuts. The machine moves the fence and bit height for each cut. price was a bit high at around 2000. Crowd and number of booths seemed a bit smaller than last time, but that could be my imagination. |
Re: Miter gauge concept, Brian Lamb inspired.
These are from a local woodworking store:
I'm pretty sure than they are universally available. Note that the brackets on the right side (with the arrows) were given a larger hole to allow for adjustment for spot-on accuracy.? The mitre gauge is attached to the slider so ... ![]() ![]() ![]() Set it with a square for exactly 45 degrees, or any angle you place and automatically the complementary angle. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBrian, They are correct on the sense resistor, that it is a part that can have significant power. What you see on my board is the replaced resistor. Original was tight to the board like other components. It still measured correct value but I changed it because I did not want it to go bad later and I placed it away and in air to dissipate heat. The tech was suprised because that is a component that should not be mounted down tight to the board and touching a capacitor. The place I go to can't determine if it is working correctly because they don't know what normal operation looks like, but they often repair older electronics they don't have any information about, mostly old guitar amps, keyboards, crossovers, etc. They just go through and replace every possible failure prone component and all the capacitors for $150 to $200 and it usually works fine.?

Re: Miter gauge concept, Brian Lamb inspired.
I saw a zero clearance waste board in a Martin Dual Miter ad so I made one for my EGL. I added a mitered Fritz and Franz to hold the work piece. I mostly used it to cut window glazing and creep up on a good tight fit. It was easy to eyeball a very tiny cut off the end of zero clearance waste board. I would mark the glazing bead on the window sash then trim. I would align the mark with the edge of the waste board. I experimented with small lights to shine where the pencil mark aligned with the waste wood but did not come up with anything useful.

Re: Miter gauge concept, Brian Lamb inspired.
Jeff, attached is a DXF file, I will also add it to the files section. I can also do an SVG or a VWX (Vectorworks) file.
If you send the attached file to SendCutSend.com they will send you that shape cut out of Baltic type plywood for $30 including shipping, or out of plate aluminum, stainless steel, or even titanium for a lot more money. You could use the plywood one as is or use it as a template. Something I would change is the curved slots are a little wide and could be narrower. |
