Re: Is the cross cut fence profile the same on Felder K700 and Hammer K3?
The Hammer k3 and Felder extrusions are not the same. The hammer k3 unit is much less stout and requires a completely different zero clearance. There is a maker on Etsy that may help. He is also active on this?forum. He made me one, but I have yet to check its fitment.? Hope this helps. Not the same unless they recently have changed the fences. The K700 fence measures 72mm x 70mm. Brian Lamb blamb11@... lambtoolworks.com

Eyeballing it, they appear similar, but always hard to know for sure.? I want to 3D print a part that fits in the K700 fence extrusion¡ªa zero clearance insert. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5342446 I own a K3. Not sure if compatible, and it's never easy tryna track down this kind of information on the internet! Thanks! |

Re: Profil 45Z commission and setup
Thanks.
The Felder adapter isn't that good, It is 120mm ID, so I would need a short section of hose to connect it to the Aigner port. (doable but ugly) I do have a 3D printer and I thought to print one myself. The mcmaster hose is expensive... $300 for 3m hose is a lot, the $75 from Felder sounds a lot better :) I think I'll just get one from Felder. I already have my dust collector port next to the machine set for 80mm. |

Or ask fellow FOG member Bill Belanger to print you one. He has a shop on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/arizonawoodstudio/?etsrc=sdt

Re: Profil 45Z commission and setup
Yahoo, free parts.
?
Do you have any recommendations on a reducer from 140mm to 120mm so I can put on the aigner bowmoulder?
3D printer part would be the best.
?
Also a place to buy a 80mm hose.
I bought one from Felder but I only bought 2m instead of 3m and I don¡¯t want to wait until
Felder will fulfils this order. It took them 3 weeks to ship me the current hose. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI could be wrong, but I believe those parts are related to the tenoning hood assembly. ?Actually, they look like they are for the?. ?But they could also be parts for the?. ?Lucky you - free parts! ?David Best

Re: Anyone know the function of these screws on old Hammer A3 41?
I had used the same machine for many years.
It¡¯s a good machine for its class.
?
The ¡°owners manual¡± is simply an exploded parts list diagram. No words whatsoever on how the machine functions.
?
Bryce is correct; the knob on the underside adjusts the outfeed table height. The two knobs on the side lock the tables in place.
?
A word of warning; My machine was single phase 220V. if you attempt to remove too much material in one thicknessing pass, you will blow the starter capacitor that helps start the motor.?
?
I learned to keep a couple of extras handy to keep the machine running, though this happened very infrequently. When I ordered replacements from Felder, the tech said it happens from time to time on that machine.

Re: Profil 45Z commission and setup
PK, I have no idea what he thinks.
I told him I am talking about the swing away on the Profil. He told me he will send me some pictures in the morning but he didn¡¯t.
How did you install the swing away?
I think I installed the part that connects to the machine chassis too low. |
Re: Profil 45Z commission and setup
Netanel,
?
I almost spit out my drink at your last sentence.? Does he think you have a combo machine?
?
So the power feed mount has no piston to support it on a profil 45z x-motion.? On the KF700 with a powerfeeder (Saw/Shaper combo) there is a swing away mount with a support piston.
?
Was the tech confused?? Not listening?
?
There is an assist strut on the fence to help it tilt up and away, but that has nothing to do with the powerfeeder.? And, it comes assembled to the machine.

Re: Christmas in November
Thanks, Cornelius!
?
The tech was here earlier and removed the MDF strip. I had no idea it was there.
?
He has much of the assembly done, and will be back tomorrow to finish.
?
He was looking for a forklift or overhead crane to install the overarm guard, and of course I do not have those things. Between him, me, and my wife we got it done.

Re: Profil 45Z commission and setup
PK:
? ?Thank you for clarifying that. I found that part rolling around on the floor of the pallet when I received my F900z.
No one seemed to know what it was for, so it's been in a drawer for the last 3 years.
Clearly, it pays to linger here, even if you don't have much to contribute. I absorb more than I give, and am grateful you guys chat regularly. Learned a lot last week, and this is off to another good start!?
?
Conclusion: That part appears to be unnecessary, given the amount of years it sat unused.?
LOL.?

Re: F900M or Profil 45M
Hi Jeff,?
?
I endorse your plan to go with an "M" machine (solid cast iron table), as opposed to a "Z" (sliding table). The solid cast iron table will give you more options in terms of jigs/accessories, most small cross-grain work can be performed with a Aigner Contermax, and if you are performing more intensive tenoning work you can always bolt a Panhans tenoning table to the top.?
?
As David Best suggests, the Profil 45 and the F900 are essentially the same machines below the cast iron, but the fence on the Profil is a significant improvement in that you get a DRO/control of the fence.?
?
I had a Profil 45 X-Motion machine and sold it. There were a lot of reasons, but one of them was I found myself fighting the software. I had actually originally ordered the machine set up for "Power Drive", Felder goofed and built the machine to be X-Motion. Knowing the major and minor diameters of the tool you're using and precise control of the fence position is really all you need, everything else is just math.?
?
Staying in the Felder family, I'd suggest you either get a F900M and rig up some manner of DRO for the fence, or go with a Profil 45M in the "Power Drive" configuration.?
?
Looking further afield, the TF-130 is a worthwhile consideration. There is a configuration that included mechanical DRO on the fence.?

Re: Profil 45Z commission and setup
Thanks everyone.
PK, I attached the knob like you have on your machine, what is wired is why two of us have this part, but Larry doesn't. ?
I got a permission from Felder to open to electrical box to identify the high leg (L2).
When I first run the machine it spins backward and the motor only run once. I had to turn the machine off and on in order to have the ability to run the motor.
Everything else was working, not sure if that is related to the fact that one of the legs to the DC circuit was the manufactured leg of the PP. Anyway I moved the manufactured leg to only power the motor and swapped L1 and L3, now to motor can spin without issues. ?
I got the power feeder coplanar to the cast iron.
?
When I spoke with Felder, the technician asked if I installed the supporting piston on the swing away. What exactly is that? |
