Re: PantoRouter dovetail auxiliary table

Steve,

Yes, the PantoRouter's table can tilt. Sure, you can join the compound?miters using the Hoffmann dovetail keys. This is a feature that Hoffmann dovetail?machine?does not have.

I have the Leigh FMT Pro.?

# 1 issue for the vertical m&t jig is the length?limit, anything longer than 4 feet, you have to raise your jig up, step on the table or ladder, or drill a hole through the second floor, LOL.
# 2 issue is that even if you can raise up your jig, it becomes extremely difficult to clamp the long and heavy piece firmly vertically,? sometimes, it is just impossible.?
# 3 not as versatile as horizontally mounted router

Leigh FMT Pro's?build quality is excellent, manual is the best in the industry, but the design is simply wrong.

Nicely done James.? Assuming the table tilts, I was wondering if a similar setup could be used for making compound miters using the Hoffmann keys and just moving the bit horizontally.? I have considered setting up the Leigh FMT with the Hoffmann bit and giving it a whirl but it is somewhat limited by the length of cut.
