Re: Eruv Status - Friday, June 24, 2016
Hi Ben, Thank you for praises, however my job over the years was made easier with the help of people like you and others who stepped up to help in the eruv effort.? As for your question regarding Area "B" on the old eruv maps, you are correct.? There was an effort a while back to resurrect that area, which was a significant area in Glen Rock. There was one issue and without getting too deep into the halachik issues, Rav Hershel Schecter, who was consulted by Rabbi Yudin, at the time said that because Herold's farm was there, the eruv extension would have become invalidated and thereby not viable.? As a result, we did not move forward with that extension.? With Herolds farm now gone, there is a possibility of viability within that area. The first step should be to consult Rav Belizon regarding the potential halachik issues to see if it is viable and to discuss an exploration of what would be needed with the eruv committee.? I hope all is well and if you have an questions, please feel free to reach out me. All the Best, Marc Nash
?
Dear Marc,
You do a great job checking & repairing the eruv & I want to give you my thanks & appreciation.? I remember years back when I was physically able, helping repair the eruv, especially in the park, climbing the tall telephone polls and therefore realize the difficulties you sometime face.
I have a curious question I'd like run by you for information sake.
Ahavat Achim is getting a new Rabbi (Rabbi Ely Shestack)?& is currently
pursuing a marketing growth program to attract new & younger members. Affordable housing in close proximity to our shul is few & hard to find.
Some people have looked at homes in Glen Rock, that have recently become available.? I know that over 20 years ago there was an ERUV extension in ?Glen Rock that we had abandoned and am curious to whether the possibility
of including parts of Glen Rock in our Eruv ?could ever be considered.
What would be involved? How much would it cost? What area would it cover? and Would there be any problems?
I'm very interested in your feedback.
Thanks again for all you do.
