Bumpers 6
Hey Gents, have any of you picked up a bumper from Autokrafters? If so, opinions good or bad? Or any other suggestions. My 70 needs a rear. Thanks, Greg -- Sent from myMail for Android

Al and Debbie are friends of mine. They got that car a few years ago at Mecum Kissimmee. It was out of a collection from Dubois Pa. They have between 50 and 60 cars mostly old Ford's and Mercury's, mostly all original big blocks. They also have 1 '69 SS Nova, 1 Plymouth Hemi, and 1AMC SCrambler. Chuck

69 Torino GT 3
Hey, I found a young man on youtube who's working on getting a 69 Torino GT running. His channel is called It'll Run. I told him he should join the club, he said he'd look into it. Just thought I'd pass it along. It's interesting to see a young guy fascinated with a classic Ford! Reminds me alot of myself when I drove mine in high school and eventually rebuilt it. 68 Torino GT & 67 Fairlane 500 in new mag! 2
Just picked up this Monday (1-23-2023) the February 2023 issue (No. 234) of "Hemmings Muscle Machines" magazine at a local grocery store. Featured on the cover is the Modified '68 Torino GT fastback in PPG Toxic Orange owned by Dan Braun (story on page 12). And the '67 Fairlane 500 R Code currently owned by Al & Debbie Geisler (the Original Owner was Gregg Heller who's dad bought it at Jack Beasley Ford in State College PA for Gregg's high school graduation present). (Story on page 34). Wanted to give you all a heads up as you may want to try and find a copy (or more) of the magazine to buy. Hopefully you are able to find a copy and enjoy reading it. :) David from WNY

I'm a bonehead 6
Friday, I was fighting getting a damaged Transit van's huge quarter panel (out of the box) out my van, (also a Transit van), in a HUGE deluge when it bit me. My gloves were in my Lincoln. Live and learn. embarrassed Greg P.S. I DID get some cool video of the stitching! -- Sent from myMail for Android

Buck Tag Location 15
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Was wondering if anyone knows where the buck tag is located on our cars? I don't see mine under the hood anywhere. I had to replace the core support years ago, so if it was there, it's long gone. It's not up near the passenger hood hinge either. Will Denver, CO

BMS Confirmation 2
For those who do not follow the "Friends of the Fairlane Club" on Facebook, a few days ago we got confirmation that our club is scheduled to drive on the track at Bristol Motor Speedway on June 30th at 10 AM as part of our next national meet. We are still ironing out some of the details (insurance requirements and how many cars they can expect us to bring) but it's on! Doug Bender did all the work to make this happen so you can send your thanks to him. Further details will be in the January-February issue of the Fairlaner. Tony

Narrowing down Cobra issue
I have kind of walked away from my Cobra since around June. Partially because I was busy with other things and partially because I was getting frustrated with it. Things started when I had the brake booster rebuilt due to a vacuum leak. It had been leaking for a long time and the engine was tuned with that leak so when the vacuum leak was fixed, I could not get it to run quite right. While diagnosing the problem, I discovered the vacuum advance diaphragm had a vacuum leak too and installed a new one. This made the engine tuning worse. I thought it was the carburetor did a thorough cleaning and checked everything out. The engine still did not run right. This past weekend I hooked up a vacuum gauge, timing light and an accurate tach. I started recording everything at different rpms and came to the conclusion the vacuum advance was advancing the timing too much. It is an adjustable diaphragm and I had adjusted it according to the manufacturer's instruction for my engine. The adjustment is with an Allen wrench through the vacuum port. I adjusted it about 2 turns clockwise. This advanced the timing at idle but reduced the timing at 2000 rpm. I knew I was going in the right direction. After resetting initial timing, I took the car out for a drive, and it was running much better. The only thing I did not like was as soon as I stepped on the accelerator pedal it surged forward. I like to take out easy, so it doesn't look like I am trying to race everybody. I am sure I can adjust this with better tuning. Back in June, I had also adjusted the accelerator pump to dump more fuel initially from an idle to try to eliminate a hesitation. I think I will set the accelerator pump back to what was and then work more with timing again. I have found that the 428 CJ doesn't run the best when using Ford specs for tuning. I have heard this from many sources and experience. Right now, the initial timing with no vacuum advance is 11 degrees at 700 rpm. Full advance is around 40 degrees with vacuum advance. I can probably set the full advance a little higher, but it is pulling very strong at WOT already.

'68 Torino Fastback Restomod 6
I haven't heard anything from our group for a few months so I thought I'd send out a photo-montage video I just found from earlier this year of someone doing an impressive restomod of a '68 Tornio Fastback. Thoughts and comments on the finished vehicle? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Hgp4AX9ek0 Tony
