We can access the classic trails right from the lodge¡¯s back door. I¡¯m looking forward to seeing everyone. Happy Holidays. Carol.

Chilkoot Trail.
5
For those interested in hiking the Chilkoot Trail next summer, we will be meeting to discuss details of the trip. There are about 5 spots open yet. We will begin hiking the trail July 23, 2020. We will camp 4 nights and hike 5 days, catching the train at Lake Bennett on July 27. At the meeting, we will discuss equipment, carpooling, etc. For the reservation, permit, train, and boxed meal (optional), it will cost $175 per person. I will need everyone¡¯s payment prior to making the reservations. So if you are serious about joining us, we will be meeting next Sunday, November 17, from 5 to 7 pm. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Address is 1052 W. Chena Hills Drive. Carol.

Please Consider Joining the Citizens Advisory Board of Alaska State Parks!
Hi folks, I have the pleasure of serving on the Citizens Advisory Board of the northern region of Alaska State Parks, along with several other great folks who care about our parks. And I'd like to invite you to join us. It would be great to have 2 or 3 more non-motorized users of the parks to represent our interests. The CAB is essentially an advisory board to the superintendent of the northern region of the parks, Brooks Ludwig. He is great to work with: he bounces ideas off of us and we bring ideas and concerns to him. And things happen. Workload is fairly minimal. Monthly meetings of about two hours max, usually on the second Wednesday of the month, September or October to May, at 5PM (meeting dates and times can change based on everyone's schedules, so don't be deterred if that time doesn't work). We don't meet during the summer. Meetings are usually at DNR near Fred Meyer West. The last meeting of the season in May is a day-long field trip, something I find to be the highlight of the year. We go out as a group to tour one or more parks, getting a behind-the-scenes look at operations and often have some incredible experiences. And once a year we meet with legislators for an hour or two to discuss parks issues with them. Please consider joining the CAB! I'll be happy to answer any questions you have, and you're welcome to visit our next meeting to see what the CAB is all about. No obligation! Thanks, Don
