Re: F8101

Hello Brian, yes, I'm confused about this now. The link I posted is, I believe, the one I saved back before I even had my F8101. I ordered mine around 8 or 9 years ago and was desperate for information to learn about it while I waited for delivery. Back then I downloaded everything I could find which included copies of both CS F8101 and CS F8101v2. There were no firmware updates and when I got my F8101 it was at main version 4.08 which I believe is still current. After seeing the confusion about my comments on where/how to get the Software/Firmware I went back to that website, which I haven't visited in years, since I already had all kinds of info previously downloaded. Now I see that the software/firmware/service data isn't included on the Icom webset. I have no idea what happened to it. I checked other Icom sites and it appears only the Amateur gear now has stuff like this.

I apologize for steering so many people wrong, I should have checked the current website before I posted my comments.?

This does not get you to the software/firmware, only manuals and marketing fluff.

No need to buy it, the CS-F8101 software is free from the Icom website mentioned in a previous post. Just need to read the entire webpage.

And yes, all you need is a standard USB-A to USB-B cable from your computer to the radio.

If that is true then I just can't find it either. I have looked on both the Icom America and Icom Japan web-sites. I have done multiple searches for CS-F8101. I am not coming up with any link to the software.

If you can navigate to the link then PLEASE capture the URL from the URL line in your browser and paste it into a response.

Re: F8101

My apologies Skip, the page I have bookmarked is??but I see that no longer contains the information I remember. I had used this page many years ago when I first got my radio, downloaded what I needed and haven't used it since so they have obviously removed the software/firmware section. Sorry to have confused you.

It's all on that same page. Read all the way down. You'll find docs, programming software and firmware etc. To get the software/firmware you need to acknowledge that you have read the agreement and understand then it will let you do the download. Simply read all the way to the bottom of the page and follow the instructions.

You can buy the cloning software (CS-F8101) from online resellers. I bought all my F8101 stuff from The Antenna Farm.

IIRC when I bought this, it included a programming cable, which is very nice but not necessary if you're already connected via USB to your computer.
