Vss failing

Currently 700 miles from home in Bismarck. Looks like my vehicle speed sensor may have failed. The speedometer needle either swings wildly, or rests on 0, or works properly

As I doubt there is a replacement here in town, is there any harm to the car with driving it? I assume the cruise won¡¯t work

No harm for driving with a bad speed sensor, we drove for 6 months with no speed sensor. Finally got a replacement all now works fine. You are correct the cruise control will not work as the computer thinks the car is going zero miles per hour.

Classic G22 failure.

Assuming you have the 01P automatic, this is the correct part #: 357919149
Available from Mark at germanautoparts.com... Call him... doesn't show if you search for it.

Easily accessed from underneath...
- remove belly pan
- jack up front if you need easier access (or ramps or a hole...)
- on top the right side differential.
- you'll see a heat shield over the wires/connector
- pull connector...
- unscrew sensor...

- reverse instructions to instal new one.

Yeah, forgot to mention that it is an 02. ?Thanks for the instructions, will order one this week when I get back home. ?

Missing the cruise control

Ah, that's the sensor you have to pull to check or fill the differential, I think.? I seem to remember some quirk about getting the connector off.? ?But an excellent opportunity to do that once in a lifetime gear oil change.?
