EVC Questions (thank you)

Sheldon, Alex and schellhas-@... (Sorry, I couldn't find your name),
Thank you for the comments.

I'll call VW to make sure the 2kEVC will be released or not. Since 99EVC will be at a
local dealer shortly, however, I may not be able to wait for the 2kEVC, if it will be released.
I hard the differences between 2k MV and 99 MV were side/rear tinted glass windows,
remote key system and a brake-wear indicator. None of them are critical for me, though
I like the remote key feature.

It may be difficult for me to expect below $36k price. The price may be something to do with
area I live, the DC area. I called local dealers and found only 3 dealers could handle the EVC
in 13 dealers. A dealer required 6 month delivery.

By the way, I have found one another difference between EV and EVC at the VW web site.
EVC do not have alloy wheels but steel wheels. Can I use the optional Rondo alloy wheels
for the EVC?

Thanks,
Tad

Tad,
I purchased my 97 EVC from Springfield VW in the DC area. They were the
only dealer carrying EVC at the time. What other dealers have you found
in the DC area selling EVCs?

John,
Springfield VW is the dealer I trying to buy EVC from! Although a sales
person I
talked was knowledgeable and friendly, he would not give me discount
even a bit.
Are they a good dealer?

Some dealer, for instance Alexandria VW, told me they didn't have EVC
in stock
but I could place an order. But they seem to tell me a lie. They might
want to
sell a normal EV to me. According to Springfield VW, they are a only EVC
qualified dealer in the DC area.

Thanks,
Tad

Tad,
We were able to deal with Springfield VW on the price but that was well
over a year ago. I'd continue to press them and say you can get it
elsewhere. There are a couple of dealers up in Pennsylvania that you
might check into also. I don't remember their exact locations but
calling VW at their 800 # should get you a location. With the resurgence
in sales that VW dealers are experiencing, I don't know why they won't
offer you a discount off the sticker price.
Springfield has been OK with the routine maintenance and one starting
problem we had. I've got no complaints with them.

I can personally vought for AutoHaus in Lancaster PA. I live in Wilmington
where there is a VW dealership only minutes from my house, but they dont
deal with EVCs. I found AutoHaus on the Web and eventually purchased from
them. They were willing to deal on the price some and actually had an EVC
waiting for me when I got there ( 51 miles away ). Their service after the
sale has been the best I have seen from any new car dealer. My salesmans
name was Jesse 717 299-2801 x 231. You can mention my name he will remember
me. This could help you in your negotiations with VW of WV. Good luck.
