I'm getting paranoid about my clutch slipping before a big trip. ?If I hit the throttle in a low gear (2nd or 3rd) the tach seems to jump a little high then settle down, like up to 3000 rpm then down 2500, and then hold steady. The engine doesn't sound like it's revving higher. Is that normal? ?Or just the crappy VDO gauge? Or the clutch slipping? I tried going from 2nd to 5th on a hill and it didn't slip at all. ?
It's a 93 MV with 118,000 miles. ?I was hard on the clutch a few months ago when the shift linkage disintegrated and I had to limp it to a repair shop with no first or second gears.
We took this van from Seattle to Florida and back last summer with no probs besides a broken window regulator!
