Be Happy! Split Your Sink and Stovetop Cover...

One of the major flaws in the Winnebago setup for EVCs is the lack of counter space.? While remodeling my interior, it occurred to me that the simple solution (okay, not that simple) is to split the cover so that half of the cover can be used as a countertop at any given time as well as opening both sides if wanted.? You'll need new piano hinges that work for each side.? ?But it's pretty straight forward and the existing hardware works fine in keeping up each side.? Also, a matching charcutier board helps to move odds and ends around to the outside.? ?Helps to put felt "feet" on it...

Looks amazing, I've always wanted to do this. Would I be able to talk you into providing any more detailed tips/instructions? I assume you take the cover off to cut it? What did you use to cut it, and how did you finish the cut edge? Thanks, David 2003 EVC

The original struts are strong enough to each hold up 1/2 of the cover.? The secret is to install a new piano hinge for each side so that everything has an even open and close.? Yes, you'll need to take the cover off to do a good job.? I back-cut a half inch off each half cover and trimmed it out with matching cherry wood so there are no rough edges.? The cover seperates into 3 pieces so you would want to mark everything, disassemble and then do your cutting.??
