New Camping Equip

BJ Feddish

My mechanic has my '83 Westy in the shop so much that I've had to camp in my
EV MV a few times. The lack of storage was driving me nuts so I decided on
building a camping cabinet. I love the Reimo one at Eurocampers but $1100
is a bit out of my price range right now for that. I used that as rough
guide and built . Scroll down to the far bottom
right. I need it this weekend so I rushed to build it over the last 5 days.
It took about 12 hours which means pretty poor construction. ;) Anyway, the
sink I ordered was too big so that will have to wait. If I had to do it all
over again I would order just the sink, pump and water bottle kit for this..

Thanks,

Bryan

Thanks for sharing. It is nearly identical to the stock Westy cabinet
in our 73. We lived in that car for a year in Europe and were pleased
with the layout.....7 1/2 gallons of water, manual pump and icebox.
Who needs all this fancy stuff we have today?

My '72 had the same cabinet too. I'm really surprised at the complete lack
of storage the MV and MV Weekender have. Even the under seat area is useless
since the seat moves forward. I strapped some Tupperware boxes under each
seat so they will travel with the seat. I hope it works!

Think how surprised I am!

Nice job! How did you secure the cabinet to the van?

If you ever want to share some scaled drawings, let us know!

It has 2 large screws at the bottom that fit into the seat holes in the
floor. I am going to rig up another item to the pillar today.

The plans are penciled chicken scratch on a napkin. And they are wrong! The
first one was too wide. Anyway, when all is settled I'll draw up some
dimensions.

Thanks,

Bryan
