97 EVC top vent leaking.

Scott D. Thornock

With the most recient storm....
I have found that the flip up vent in my van is leaking.
The inside seal seems fine ... Maybe it is leaking around the outer seal
... If there is one.
In any case it seems to collect a lot of water, then wham...dump water
like a cow peeing when I start to move.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott:
Are you sure it's coming from the top vent?
Some people have experienced a slow leak from under the 'luggage rack' over
the cab.
When the vehicle is parked for a time during a rain, water leaking around the
bolts holding the 'luggage rack' brackets will find it's way into the
interior when the vehicle is eventually moved, usually showing up near the
seat belt area or at the back edge of the cab headliner. Resealing the bolt
holes with silicon caulk usually fixes it.
