Intermittent CC function

Norman Leong

Hi, all

For those w/ '93 EV w/ cruise control, has anyone experienced a problem in which the CC will engage, but will not hold the set speed? In other words, you can feel the pedal depress, and it will seem like the cruise is functioning, but it quickly becomes apparent that the EV is steadily slowing down. Yet, there are times (maybe 10% of the time) when I'll set the desired speed and it stays right at that speed, over undulating terrain. If anyone could shed some light on this interesting situation, I would be grateful.

TIA,
Norman

i had a similar problem which seemed related to the guage problem.
when the temp and fuel guages were cutting out the cruise would too.
possibly the unstable voltage in the instrument cluster affected signal
for the cruise.

Yep, mine seems to act this way sometimes too and the gauges are fine.
Unfortunately, I don't have any light to shed, I'm baffled as well.

Check the vacuum valve switches on the brake/clutch pedals. They can
get out of adjustment as the pedal mechanism wears.

So far, my CC is working fine. I have had the instrument circuit board
resoldered, and the guages work after a fashion -- often the temp light
flashes after turning on the ignition for extended periods of time, or the
temp g. will suddenly shoot into the top end, the light flashes, suddenly the
gas tank is full again ;). As far as I can tell, the engine is not
overheating. But the CC keeps humming along.
