Hi;
I noticed on the VW website in Germany that there was some info
about corrosion protection there. I think they say that there is an
eight year warranty there and the T4s are partially galvanized.
You are absolutely right. While checking out the German site I found this
bit of interesting EV news. A Multivan TDI just set a new world record on
October 11, 99--and will be awarded an entry in the Guinness Book of
Records. Two Germans drove it non-stop from Prudhoe Bay in Alaska to Ushuaia
on the southern tip of the continent in 15 days, 14 hours, and 6 minutes.
They beat the previous record of 20 days, 12 hours, and 55 minutes. The
only modifications to the van were headlight covers, lights on top, and it
was lifted 3 centimeters. The article describes the problems the teams
(there were two, one all male, one all female) faced during the race. (Earth
quakes, land slides, missed ferries etc.). They claim they did not have any
mechanical problems, except for dented rims. (What kind of EV's were they
driving--no problems??) The entire trip was 22.880 kilometers (about 14 300
miles). Check out the pictures here:

Once at the site, you must seek the report and pictures through
