Buying a Eurovan Camper

Hello, glad to find this group. We're thinking of buying a new Eurovan
camper, and many of the local dealers (Colorado) seem uninformed about
the camper, and hazy about cost etc. Can anyone recommend a dealer
that has campers on hand, actual selling prices to expect, and any
other helpful information. I am willing to travel to find a good
dealer and a good deal. Part of the fun will be driving home! Thanks
Bill H.

Welcome fellow Colorado.

McDonalds VW/Audi has a salesman there (named Dave, I think) who has owned
VW campers for 25 years. HE is very knowledgeable. The bottom line price for
a 99 is, I believe $32,000.

there is also a dealer in the Springs who is pretty cheap, but I do not
think they know anything about Campers.

Also there is a dealer in Fort Collins who seems to know what they are
doing, but I found them to be pricey.

Don't know how far you want to travel but we have a 1995 eurovan for
sale. We're the second owners...bought it two years ago in New York
State just before moving here to North Carolina. We both retired and
thought we would be taking lots of trips to the mountains, seashore and
decided the 5 cycl Audi engine would be great for round-town driving as
well as on the road. It is. But we are having such a good timein
Winston-Salem, we just don't go camping like we used to when we were
working and wanting to get away for weekends.

Want more info let me know.

All I can say I bought my brand new in Wausau, Wisconsin (Wausau Import) in
May '98 (but that was '97 model) for $30k. It looks like not bad deal. They
always have them there and they know about this camper a little, but it
looks too far for you to travel.

Drop me a line if you want to know more about that place.

Severin.

I think if you are willing to wait few months until 2000 will be wide out
you can beat that for couple thousands, but not much more.

I have been talking to Rick Asey at Hughberger Motors in Colorado
Springs for 3 months. He has maintained for that entire period that 3
99 EVCs should be on the next trailer. So far none have showed up. He
gave me a price of 35,244 with the center seat. Later, he changed the
price to 36,908 if no deposit was received before the van arrived.
Throughout that 3 months I searched the internet and found many campers
for sale by owners. I highly recommend this method because you don't
have to deal with commission chasing sales people who don't know much
about the EVC or when they might have one to sell you. I have found
this list and every EVC owner I spoke with to be more knowledgeable,
helpful and honest than any car dealer.

Please email me if you would like more information on how to find EVCs,
I have many sites and have researched delivery methods as well.

Dear Dan.d

We have a 1995 Eurovan we are trying to sell but very few people in
Winston-Salem, NC have any idea what one is all about. I have posted on
this site but this site seems to be folks who already own one. We did
advertise in the Seattle, Wash. paper and received a call from a guy who
said if he couldn't find what he wanted there, he would call back in a
week or so. Obviously, the distance is a problem but people who want
these and appreciate the good value of one that's a few years old,
compared to paying the 35,000 or so for a new one, might make the trip.

I gather from people I have talked to that there were few 1994s and
1995s imported. Anyway, if you have a suggestion of a site for us to
advertise, we'd be grateful to have it.

Thanks,
D Layng
PS Our vehicle is in excellent shape. We've found that since we moved
here from NYS two years ago in retirement, we are not camping like we
used to. It's our only vehicle and our aim is to sell it for two less
expensive cars.

How much are you asking, and how many miles, transmission, etc. . . You can
e-mail me personally if you like. We are considering upgrading to an EVC in
the next year or so.
