3-way fridge

hi group,
noticed a recent thread on the norcold fridge. my fridge in my 1997 evc
does not work on "110volt" shore power mode. does anyone have
suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem. it works just fine on
12v and propane modes.
thanks...

I would start with the electrical panel in back of the van. Check to see that all of the circuit switches are pushed in.

If you're sure that there's 110 getting to the fridge, there's not
much left. There should be a fuse, the mode switch, thermostat,
thermocouple, and the heating element. You may be able to find the
manual with wiring info here:

First, check and make sure that the single push/pull 15 amp breaker in your rear panel is PUSHED IN. Second, make sure all the ones on the left are pushed in as well. You might want to take the double vent cover for the heater in the back off and open the access door to the converter and make sure that all of the wiring has solid connections. Take the wire nuts off and double check the wire stripping... Winnebago has a lot to learn about good wiring! Regards, John

I would check the outlet behind the fridge to see if your getting power
there.

What is the status of the coach battery, i.e., how old? Does it take and
hold a charge?

Bob,

Coach battery is brand new (650/750 amps) and it holds a charge great!

If the battery is running down while driving, you have a charging issue.
Could be a weak alternator, a bad isolation solenoid, bad connection, etc.

First things first: Remove and clean the coach battery terminals and
connectors. I just had this problem, and there was corrosion limiting the
current flow into the battery.

Then, measure the voltage with the engine at 1500 rpm on both sides of the
isolation solenoid. It should be the same 13.6 volts or more. Do the same
at the coach battery. Then turn on the fridge (12v of course) and check the
voltage at the battery. If it drops below 12v, you have a weak alternator.
If not, turn on the headlights and heater fans and check the voltage. It
should still be at least 13v with all this stuff running.

Good luck!

Stuart
