'99 replacing and recoding garage cluster
Is it possible to swap clusters?
?
My 1999 EVC gauge cluster analog instruments are inoperable. The digital display for the odometer and different notification lights such as low fuel still operate. I've been looking across the internet to try and find information on the process of swapping clusters. Don't anticipate being able to find a new cluster so will need to salvage a cluster from another van.? Would doing a swap require a trip to the dealership for recoding? Is it even possible to successfully swap clusters?? Hoping this amazing group can help. Thank you all in advance for helping this long-time lurker and first time poster.

开云体育My instrument cluster on my 99 eurovan camper broke. I found this repair service on eBay and gave them a try. The name of the company is speedy repair services. Cost about $425, but well worth it. I removed the cluster myself by watching a video on you tube. I’m not a mechanic and it took awhile but I did it. The cluster works perfectly. On Aug 16, 2024, at 8:44?AM, Kyle Henderson via groups.io <kyle.henderson@...> wrote:

Learnings after calling Volkswagen and speaking to a cluster repair service.?

You need to speak to VW to find the specific part numbers for clusters that will work with your VIN.

Once you've located a replacement cluster, I bought one on eBay, you'll need to inspect the circuit board for corroded or weak soldering. After cleaning and resoldering any poor connections you'll then use software to reprogram the EEPROM chip with the the odometer and vehicle information. I suggest doing some YouTube searches to learn more about programming EEPROMs. This is the process that the instrument cluster repair services use to program a new to you vehicle cluster with your vehicles information.?

Then install your new to you cluster. This is pretty simple if you are comfortable with some basic automotive work. Good video here on that process. https://youtu.be/RXM7ZreBuuY?si=4gx4ks80IO2qJEFt |
