There are other solutions today, special diodes with controlled turn off characteristics exist,? There are soft turn off diodes, and, oddly enough, fast recovery diodes. I suspect there are others but those are the only two I have any experience with. ? The "MicroSemi 302 Rectifier Reverse Switching Performance EMI" is extremely detailed. I wish I'd had this paper in 1974. ?
