Schematics to Circuit Board?

Thomas Lee Mullins

Is there software that can convert schematics to a circuit board
design? I have some schematics that I want to see if I can make
a circuit board from (perhaps to 'recreate' the device that
schematics are of).

Dear Thomas,
You can use BOARDMAKER Program to convert schematics
to a circuit board. You must modify the board because
it doesn't work properly and can't give the right
answer. But it can give a design idea :)

Where can I get BoardMaker?

I found software from
that has a program called Eagle CAD. It was free for/to hobbiest.
Have you heard about/know anything about it?

Hi Thomas, have been using EAGLE 4.01 light for quite some time. It is excellent, with extensive
symbol libraries, together with DRAFTCAD from ",
[not available in lighy or demo], but I have never used the Circuit Board part of any of them,
preferring to hardwire the one off jobs that I do from time to time, unless I would do something from a kit that includes the printed circuit board as well.

Regards, Steve

Some of you should look in ftp.cdrom.com... i forgot which directory
it's in, it's in the assmbly and engineering directory, I downloaded
the entire archive and burned that onto 2 CD-Roms, a HUGE archive of
programs that are for circuitboard and electronics design... However,
most of them require Linux. I have a Dell XPI CD166 with a Linux hard
drive caddy solely made for circuit design, and another caddy for the
Windows NT4 CAD design programs. One of the utilities found in
CDROM.com allows you to shrink circuitboard size by creating
multilayer PCBs, you can fit the electronics into a board into the
size of two business cards side by side instead of a full page. You
can create files to be submitted to manufacturing.

Just shouting it out to ya, email me for more...

I use Kicad to do schematics and board? Comes in windows and Linux and free to use? Eagle is another option Free version has restrictions but that shouldn't be an issue.? Kicad is probably the best though.
If you need to make the gcode file for a cnc machine there are many options.? Flatcam is ok but only comes in Windows version now.? Carbide Coper is an online gcode generator.? Rabbitcam is another option but click the correct link? -sourcerabbit.com -? you'll end up on a porn site.? Rabbitcam has a free to use option (at least I think it still has the option) with limits and comes in Windows and linux versions? Quite a lot of other software out there, just do a search for pcb cad cam software.

I use eagle with the pcbgcode plugin.
