Devotional: Fight with Purpose¡ªBe a Warrior!
Today's Scripture Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37 Every person that you meet today is facing a struggle. How they meet that struggle determines the outcome. Wimps run away. Whiners play the blame game. Warriors, though, refuse to point the finger or wait for rescue. A warrior determines to engage the enemy. He polishes his armor and brandishes his sword. A warrior is not concerned with the number of the enemy. She doesn¡¯t ask, ¡°How many?¡± She says, ¡°Where are they?¡± Warriors choose to take a stand. They do not feel their way into being a warrior. They contend with the same fears, doubts and distractions that assail us all, but they make up their minds to draw a line in the sand, to fight for right, to charge into battle. The Bible teaches that every warrior needs three things: Every warrior needs to remember the cause for which he fights. Fathers, are you contending for the faith of your children? Ladies, are you combating the tendency to over commit? Keep that worthy cause at the forefront of your mind. Pray without letting up. Take the necessary steps to protect and defend. Every warrior needs a battle plan. Armies do not stumble over a success. Soldiers do not drift into a victory. Warriors without battle plans are casualties. Fight with focus. Be intentional. Ask for the intelligence of God to be poured out in you as you strategize for success. Every warrior needs to remember in Whose strength you fight. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual hosts of wickedness (Ephesians 6:12). You have an enemy ¨C the devil, the serpent of old. In your own strength, you are no match for him. Alone, you cannot go toe to toe. Jesus has promised to stick close to your side. He will not desert you on the battlefield. He will provide the mighty weapons you need. In His name, you are undefeatable. Choose to be a warrior! Remember the cause for which you fight. Prayerfully create a battle plan. Be aware that you do not wage war in your own strength. When you do, you will be a warrior that becomes a winner. Blessing Heavenly Father, even when I am surrounded on all sides, open my eyes to see that I never battle alone. Give me the courage to fight for the causes close to Your heart. Give me the wisdom to overcome the wiles of the enemy. May Your kingdom be advanced in my life, my family, my community, and the world in the name of Jesus. Amen. Lent, Day 1: Ash Wednesday: Preparing Our Hearts for Easter March 5, 2025 by Marsha G. Richards Joel 2:12-13 ¡°¡¯Even now,¡± declares the LORD, ¡°return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.¡¯ Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity.'¡± Welcome to a daily devotional guide for the Lenten season, taking us on a journey to Easter Sunday. A traditional Lenten devotional series is 40 days, with writings for six days each week. Sundays will be included in the series but set aside as ¡°celebration days¡± for the posting of scripture verses, hymns, and spiritual songs, thus they will not be numbered. May you be blessed, inspired, and filled with a renewed love and commitment to the Savior during this season. Growing up in a military family that was not particularly religious, we attended church only occasionally at the protestant chapel on the local base wherever my dad was stationed at the time. At school, I was intrigued¡ªand a bit jealous¡ªthat a number of my classmates were excused during lunch break to attend church with their parents, returning with smudges of ashes on their foreheads marking the first day of Lent. Years later, after placing my faith in Christ, I came to understand the true significance of Lent¡ªthat it isn¡¯t about the ashes, or a rigid ritual to keep, or a requirement for His acceptance and love but, rather, it is a special time set aside, by personal choice, to draw nearer to God. One may choose to fast for a period of time or refrain daily from a particular food or habit. Our scripture verse today says, ¡°Rend your heart,¡± which means to come to the Lord with ¡°weeping and mourning¡± over personal sin with a heart of repentance. When we humble ourselves to do this, we are met by a forgiving, gracious, loving, and compassionate God. The subjects of prayer, fasting, and repentance will be touched on more fully in the days ahead. Join me, won¡¯t you, during these 40 Days of Lent, until Resurrection Sunday, as we draw near to the Father and deepen our love for Jesus. May we open our hearts to what God has in store for us during this season of hope, as He prepares our hearts for Easter. Father in Heaven, as we prepare once again to focus on the redemptive message of the Cross, open our hearts to receive all that You desire for us to consider in the coming weeks. Ignite the flame of Your Holy Spirit to give us teachable hearts with a desire for these things: more time spent in Your Word, a spirit of repentance, more effective prayer, and a heart of charity towards others. In Your name we pray, Amen. Devotional: Victorious Praise
Faith to Faith - Daily Devotional March 6, 2025 Victorious Praise Gloria Copeland When he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers to sing to the Lord and praise Him in their holy [priestly] garments as they went out before the army, saying, Give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy and lovingkindness endure forever! 2 Chronicles 20:21, The Amplified Bible Praise precedes victory! You can see a graphic example of that in 2 Chronicles 20. There, the Bible tells us that a multitude of forces was marching against Israel. The army of Israel was so outnumbered, they literally didn't know what to do. So they fasted and prayed until they received a word from God. "Be not afraid or dismayed at this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's" (2 Chronicle 20:15, The Amplified Bible). Do you know what they did in response to that word? They put together a praise choir! That's right. They appointed singers and praisers and sent them out in front of the army! And when that choir began to sing, the Word tells us that "the Lord set ambushments against the men...who had come against Judah, and they were [self-]slaughtered" (verse 22). When it was all over, not one Israelite had fallen¡ªand not one of their enemies had escaped. What's more, when they came to take the spoil, they found so many cattle, goods, garments and other precious things, it took them three whole days to haul it all home. Now, that's victory! And it all began with praise. Are you looking for that kind of victory today? Then stand up and shout, "Glory!" After all, you're in the same situation those Israelites were in. You have an army marching against you, but Jesus has already defeated it. He won that battle for you on Resurrection morning. All that's left for you to do is trust Him and begin to praise. Sound out those praises today. Speak them, sing them, declare them in the face of your enemy. Once he hears them, he'll know he doesn't even stand a chance. Devotional: Expect to Hear His Voice
Faith to Faith - Daily Devotional Faith to Faith - Daily Devotional 03/072025 Expect to Hear His Voice Gloria Copeland The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:27, The Amplified Bible So many believers are unsure of their ability to hear God or know His voice. They're always afraid that they won't be able to tell when the Spirit of God is talking to them. What they don't realize is this: Hearing the voice of the Spirit is a privilege that the Bible says belongs to every believer (Romans 8:14). All we have to do to exercise that privilege is to receive it by faith and put ourselves in a position to hear. Next time the devil tries to tell you that you can't hear God's voice, remember that. Jesus said His sheep will know His voice and a stranger's voice they will not follow. That is a promise of God to you today. You see, the Spirit of God will never guide you in opposition to the written Word of God (John 16:13). So, if you're not familiar with what the Word says, you'll find it more difficult to discern His leading. Get familiar with God's voice by meditating and studying the Word of God. Follow God's instruction to Joshua and meditate on it day and night. Act on what you find in the Word, not just when it's easy but every time. Be obedient even in the slightest things. That continual obedience to the written Word will bring you into maturity and tune your inward ear to the voice of the Spirit. You'll soon be able to recognize it as easily as you recognize the voice of your dearest friend. So, instead of wondering about it, start expecting to hear from Him. Then start sharpening your spiritual ears by spending time in the Word. Devotional: Face It, Change It¡ªGod Gives You Strength!
Psalm 139:23-24 March 08, 2025 Today's Scripture Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24 ¡°God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.¡± Most of us can quote the familiar words of the ¡°Serenity Prayer¡± penned by American theologian, Reinhold Niebuhr. To anyone who has ever struggled with change, it can prove exceedingly difficult, and like Niebuhr, we know that it requires courage. Even Paul, battle-hardened apostle though he was, declared himself a wretched man. ¡°For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice¡± (Romans 7:19). The first step towards change is admitting the issue. While it sounds simple enough, we recognize our humanity. We blame; we avoid; we ignore; we justify; we put off the inevitable. Whining about what we wish to change is futile. Ignoring what we are afraid to change leaves us powerless. We cannot change what we will not confront. Often, calling the issue for what it is ¨C putting a name to it ¨C brings it out of the darkness into the light of Jesus¡¯ love, and it breaks the power of it to harm. Satan does his best work under cover of night. When we bring our situations boldly to the throne of grace, Satan¡¯s lies drop powerless in the presence of God¡¯s absolute truth. Once we confront, change requires commitment, a walking it out by faith. First Corinthians 3:9 refers to us as co-laborers with Christ. He does not leave us to confront and change on our own. When we come to the end of our puny self-discipline, His strength is perfected in our weakness (1 Corinthians 12:9). He supernaturally accomplishes what we are helpless to address in our own strength. With Paul the apostle, we can then proclaim: ¡°I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me¡± (Philippians 4:13). That conflict in which you are engaged? That secret sin with which you struggle? That situation from which you cannot escape? In the power of Christ, confront it today. Call it by name. Bring it into the light. Rise up like a warrior intent on victory. Do not let the fear of change diminish the plans God has for you. He alone gives power to overcome. Blessing Heavenly Father, I confess my need to You. With Your help, I call out what I have not been able to confront. Break the power of it in my life. Set me free. Walk me through the battle, step by step, until I emerge victorious. All glory belongs to You in the name of Jesus! Amen. Devotional: Face Your Giants¡ªGod Fights for You!
1 Samuel 17:47 March 09, 2025 Today's Scripture Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord¡¯s, and He will give you into our hands. 1 Samuel 17:47 King David is the quintessential example of a warrior. Even as a boy, he demonstrated remarkable courage and faith in God. In 1 Samuel 17, he stands on the hillside overlooking the Valley of Elah. Below him stands Goliath, the mammoth giant, who mocks God and taunts the Israelites. ¡°Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me. If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants. But if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us¡± (verse 9). While the grown men around him trembled in fear, courage blossomed in David¡¯s heart. He remembered the cause for which Israel fought. He looked at his older brother, Eliab, and those around him, ¡°Is there not a cause?¡± (verse 29). Why would Israel not stand up to Goliath? God had not brought them this far to hand them over to Goliath. David¡¯s courage hardened into conviction: God would deliver them from the blasphemous giant. David developed his battle plan. He went to the brook and selected five stones. Was this in case he missed? No! Bible scholars tell us that Goliath had four brothers. David was sending a message. He was not going down to the valley to start a fight; he was going to finish one! David marched out to meet Goliath with five smooth stones and a slingshot. Goliath scoffed at the sight of the lad: ¡°Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?¡± (verse 43). David sized him up, but he did not flinch. He knew where his strength originated. He had no doubt in Whose name he stood. He confidently called out to the mammoth: ¡°You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied¡± (verse 45). One smooth stone sailed unerringly through the air to bring down a formidable foe. Across the centuries, a triumphant cheer still rises in our hearts! If God came to David¡¯s aid, certainly He will come to ours. In the face of our invincible enemies, God can bring them to dust with something as simple as a small stone. BlessingHeavenly God, I choose to be a warrior for the King of kings. I believe the battle belongs to You. I march out to meet my enemy in the name of the Lord. Victory is mine through Christ Jesus. In that mighty name... Amen.
