God¡¯s Life-Changing Word
Deuteronomy 32:46-47 (NASB?) ¡°Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you will command your sons to follow carefully, all the words of this Law. For it is not a trivial matter for you; indeed it is your life.¡±
Remarkable things happened in the books of Moses¡ªGenesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. By the end of Genesis, Abraham¡¯s descendants have migrated to Egypt. When Exodus opens hundreds of years later, they have been enslaved and will remain so for many generations. Moses comes with a message of deliverance, and the story begins to change direction. The gods they were exposed to in Egypt were made in the image of other created things, and they reflected humanity¡¯s fallen nature. God begins to help His people understand His character and His power and how cooperating with Him will change their lives. These ancient words of Moses are just as transformative for our generation, so I urge you to take God¡¯s Word to heart. Diligently read it, follow it, and teach it to your children. It¡¯s not a trivial matter¡ªit is your life.
THINK ABOUT IT Making the life-commitment to systematically read God¡¯s Word each day will change the course of your life and through your influence, the lives of those around you.
PRAYER Heavenly Father, thank You for the many ways we can access the Bible. Help me to love Your Word more than life, and through it, grant me insight into Your character and how to respond to life¡¯s challenges. May Your Word be more alive in me than ever before. In Jesus' name, amen. |
