Paid Internship for College Student - available now
Hey Jerry, this is Pete Christensen at Breathe California. We need to hire a student Intern ASAP for the fall semester working 15 to 20 hours per week on the Clean Cities program. Training will be provided. It is a paid internship by the way, and it starts next Tuesday September 3rd. We can extend the deadline for a week or so if needed, but no later than September 13th. We'd love to have a college student who is enrolled in a masters program or at least working on an undergrad degree (although they do not need to be currently enrolled). The internship would also include the winter and spring semesters. The student can work remotely most of the time, however we would like them to come into the San Jose office one day a week, hopefully on Wednesdays. There is a 3 week break between semesters that is unpaid and there is also one unpaid week during each semester. If you know of anyone who would be a good match for this opening, please contact Pete Christensen directly via email at petechris23@... Thanks, Pete

V2G Ongoing Discussion
Dave, thanks for this excellent article. Not mentioned were the circa-2011 University of Delaware proof-of-concept demonstrations using the BMW Mini-e which utilized the AC Propulsion technology. https://www1.udel.edu/udaily/2013/may/vehicles-grid-050213.html There is so much more benefit to accessing the energy available in an EV's huge battery pack than the relatively-small residential battery-backup systems presently available. The future has been here for many years - what is needed is collaboration amongst vehicle manufacturers, utilities, governments, etc., to establish and agree and implement hardware and protocol (ISO 15118?) so we can move ahead. A google search of V2G shows lots of activity, but I'm afraid that implementation will not occur in my lifetime. :-( JoeS

Fw: Problem with Tesla 3
Hello All Thank you for your reply about my problem with the backup camera on my Model 3 not working and causing the cruise control also to the work. Went to the Tesla Service yesterday and they diagnosed the problem to be the cable to the camera. I got a recall notice April of this year, but since I was not having any problem, I ignored it. Service is coming to my house Monday to replace the cable. Thanks again for your support and hope to see you all at the Ride and Drive at Lake Cunningham park. George

Fw: Problem with Tesla Model 3 4
Hello All For the last couple of days I have been having an intermittent problem with my Model 3. Sometimes when I start the car there is a warning message about the brake hold not working. Also, the backup camera and cruise control does not work. The next time I drive the car, everything works. Has anyone else experienced this problem and what is the fix? Thanks! George

New & Used EVs that are Less Expensive than Equivalent Gas Cars!
Hi to All, The excerpt below is from Coltura: Moving Beyond Gasoiline¡¯s current e-newsletter. For those of you who might like to subscribe ¡ª request to be added to their e-newsletter mailings via info@.... New & Used EVs - Now Less Expensive than Equivalent Gas Cars The average price of a used EV in May 2024 was $28,767, compared to $40,783 a year earlier, a 42% decline, according to a recent study. The average EV now costs $2,657 less than the typical gas car. In another study, long-range EVs with more than 300 miles of range are now less expensive than the average gas car. The new Chevy Equinox, for example, with a 319-mile range, costs under $35,000 with the new federal tax credit of $7,500. That price would be even lower in states with additional EV incentives such as California and Washington.

For Sale Used 200 Ah Sinopoly LiFoPo cells 2
I have 40 cells for sale. They have all been tested for their capicaty. They range from a low of 120 Ah to a High of 148 Ah. The average is about 135 Ah. They are still useful for a solar storage or battery backup. About 13 Kwh at 144 vdc. I have replaced the cell in my car because the range had dropped to about 35-40 miles. They could still be used in a car if do not mind the limited range. I have the jumpers and bolts that go with the cells. I am asking $65.00 per cell or Best Offer. George Stuckert

smart ED "brake malf. Workshop" 8
Does anybody have a smart ED? Last night, just before getting home, it started beeping and showing "brake malf. Workshop". Various googling seems like it could be: * wiring harness issue * fuse issue (fuses near the 12V battery, and my replacement was manual and I had to have an AAA guy get it all the way in, so who knows, maybe that affected the fuses, but that was months and months ago) * actual brake cylinder or other vacuum issue I can still manually brake by pushing REALLY hard on it, and of course usually do regen braking by letting off the accelerator (though the smart doesn't have one pedal mode).. so am still driving very carefully on slow city streets. at least to work and eventually dealer. Will prob go to a Benz dealer since they were who sold smarts when they were in the USA?

solar microgrid EV charging update 7
Howdy, One of our members Tom McCalmont has his own company that has a solar powered charging station that provides shade for the EV parked under the solar panels. On top of that, it can be installed in one day and is completely independent of the electric grid. That means there is no connection to the electric utility company, no trenches for power cables, no getting permits, etc. If you move, you can bring it to your new location (some assembly required). It has battery storage so you can still charge even after the sun goes down. The update below shows feedback from the media and their customer in Davis, CA. Congratulations to Tom and his employees for a job well done.
