Fantastic Kia EV6 lease deal in San Jose

Happy Holidays,

Now is a great time to take advantage of the year end buyer's market for EVs - especially since the new US president has indicated he wants to remove EV incentives and "drill, drill drill" for fossil fuels.

I wanted to get a Kia EV6, however I was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Rock = a used 2022 EV6 costs over $25K, so it is not eligible for the used EV Federal tax credit.

Hard Place = a new 2024 EV 6 purchase does not qualify for the $7500 Federal tax credit.

However I found a sweet spot, which is the 2 year EV6 lease with a deep discount from Kia that is more than the new EV $7500 Federal tax credit (that it does not qualify for).

The even better news is that they have ultra low lease prices at the Stevens Creek Kia dealer and their internet manager Carlos Ramirez is extremely knowledgeable about EVs and charging stations.

They are advertising lease prices on their website for as low as $99 per month with $3995 due at signing.? However, for full disclosure, the monthly lease payment and down payment will be somewhat higher when the taxes and normal new car registration and fees are included. ?

The one I got was advertised at $119 per month.? See attached photo.
However when the additional taxes and fees were added it came to just under $160 per month - still a very good deal.? The up front cost was just over $6700, which is way more affordable than buying the car and making loan payments.??

At the end of the lease, I can buy it for about $27K, however I was told that it may actually cost significantly less if I turn the leased car in and buy a certified pre-owned 2024 EV6 (due to higher depreciation).

The car has rear wheel drive and over 300 miles of range.? They gave me a bonus of 1,000 kilowatt-hours of DC fast charging with Electrify America.? The car has an 800 volt battery pack (which?keeps?the batteries cooler than they would be in a 400 volt car) and can fast charge from 20% to 80% in under 20 minutes.??

Carlos spent a lot of time with me setting up the apps on my iPhone and configuring some of the features in the car to my preferences.? You can tell him I sent you.

I bought my 2015 Soul EV from Stevens Creek Kia in October 2014, making me one of the first Kia EV purchasers in the USA.? FWIW.

During the purchase process the service manager made sure to tell me the dealership would be losing a lot of future revenue because the car requires approx zero maintenance.

That purchase was very early in that dealership's EV experience.? Kia required them to install a DCFC as well as Level 2 charging.? As a purchaser, I was told I could stop by to charge if needed.? The times I tried to do so, the EVSE's were typically blocked.

Other than that the people were friendly.

My car was without problem.? The only problem I had was in mid-2020, after COVID had kept us holed up in the house for a few months and we hadn't driven anywhere, the 12 volt battery was d-e-a-d.? It was clearly my fault for not even having turned on the car in several months.
