Sitting behind the wheel of her gray?, Brooklyn resident Stephanie Doba uses her phone to punch the make, model and license plate number of a Toyota Camry into New York City¡¯s online for reporting illegal parking. Prompted to describe the issue, she answers with voice-to-text: ¡°Gas car parking at electric vehicle charging station.¡±
Doba has?made at least 10 such reports since New York City set up curbside EV chargers near her Park Slope home three years ago. Some days she walks to the tree-lined street where the public plugs are installed just to check if they¡¯re being ICEd ¡ª?EV-speak for when curbside chargers are blocked by internal-combustion cars.?
¡°People need to know that they¡¯re hurting actual people,¡± Doba says. ¡°It¡¯s like if you parked your car at a gas pump and [walked] away.¡±=====================================================Alicia Canton, BloombergSal Cameli bought his first EV?in 2012. Today he has two Nissan Leafs, which he rarely drives, and one Model Y. But Cameli doesn¡¯t have a garage or driveway to charge in. Instead, he hired an electrician?to craft a 19-foot cable that plugs into a dryer hookup in his kitchen. The cable runs through a window and out to the street, where it¡¯s fastened to a signpost to prevent tripping.?
The charger plugs into a dryer hookup in Cameli¡¯s?kitchen.?¡°In this neighborhood back then, there were no chargers at all,¡± Cameli says. ¡°There was downtown Jersey City, but that¡¯s 2.3 miles away. I¡¯m not going to plug in there and then walk home.¡±
On nights when Cameli needs to use his charger, his biggest challenge is securing parking close enough for the cable to reach. That¡¯s where the Nissans come in: One Leaf holds a spot by the signpost during the day, while Cameli is out and about in the Tesla.?The other Leaf is parked behind the first one. When Cameli gets home, he moves the placeholder car, then parks the Tesla in its spot and parks the second Leaf at an angle to protect the protruding charger plug from a sideswipe.?
Cameli says a full charge costs him $13.65 ¡ª $15 in summer ¡ª compared with $18 at the charging station that was installed near his apartment a few years ago. He charges the Tesla every four days and drives it about 12,500 miles (2,010 kilometers) per year; the Leafs get charged every six weeks. Cameli pegs his annual charging costs at just under $500.?

After 13 years of trouble-free Level 2 home charging (on my Nissan-provided Aerovironment charger), now when I plug in my J1772 connector, I hear a series of 3 beeps with a slight pause between each series. At the same time, the 3 blue lights under the windshield are flashing.
I read some of the Nissan forum posts, and I went to a public Level 2 charger, and it worked fine. So, now I know that my charger is the problem.
A couple posts indicated that it's probably the PP pin in the charger. Is this something that I would be able to fix myself? Would I have to disconnect power from the charger? Any other suggestions?
Thank you very much!

This survey should take 3-5 minutes to complete. Your individual responses are anonymous and will remain confidential. Thank you for your participation.
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) wants your input on a new California Vehicle Window Sticker! As more Californians are looking to buy electric vehicles, it is important that consumers have access to meaningful information about these cars. To provide better information, CARB is developing requirements for a new?. Please fill out the survey, linked below, to help us determine what should be included on the window sticker.

Background on the Advanced Clean Cars Regulations
In 2022, CARB adopted the Advanced Clean Cars II regulations to establish the next phase of regulations beginning with the 2026 model year. Advanced Clean Cars II:
- Increases the stringency of the smog-causing criteria pollutant standards, known as LEV IV.
- Updates the zero-emission vehicle regulation to require 100% of new passenger vehicles to meet zero-emission standards by the 2035 model year.
- Establishes a suite of assurance measures to ensure zero-emission vehicles can provide enduring emission reductions. ? ?
Staff are now considering amendments to the ACC II regulations for GHG, criteria air pollutants, and ZEVs. In the November 2023 workshop, staff presented their new proposals to address emerging ZEV-related issues, such as requirements to help improve interoperability between electric vehicles and charging equipment and data collection to inform a consumer-facing window sticker.
In 2008, CARB introduced the California Environmental Performance Label (EPL) in response to Assembly Bill 1229, which required vehicle window-stickers to include a smog index and global warming index. In California, vehicle manufacturers were required to affix the California EPL along with U.S.?EPA and Department of Transportation Fuel Economy Label (Fuel Economy Label). In 2012, the California EPL was incorporated into the Fuel Economy Label, which manufacturers can use in place of the California EPL to comply with California¡¯s label requirements. With more Californians looking towards purchasing ZEVs, CARB wants to ensure consumers have the information they are seeking. Staff are developing a proposal for an updated California EPL with improved ZEV metrics, which would accompany the current Fuel Economy Label.

Hello All,
If you are interested in Electric Vehicles, consider attending one of our
meetings.
All EVA meetings are free and open to anyone who is interested in
Electric Vehicles (EVs).
The meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of every month.
From 10 A.M. until 12 noon
The meetings are held at the Reid Hillview Airport terminal building.
Located at 2500 Cunningham Ave, San Jose, CA
Directions to the meetings are as follows.
Take Hwy. 101 to Hwy. 680 North, exit & turn right onto Capital
Expressway.
Travel on Capital Expressway West for approximately 2 miles;
turn right onto Cunningham. The meeting room is in the terminal at the
end of the road.
A typical meeting of the SJEVA is casual and informative. A round table
is held after chapter business is completed. Topics are typically very
technical from the folks who are building and driving real world electric
vehicles today. Come attend a free EVA meeting and learn from EVA members
who have been building and driving Electric Vehicles for 50 years.
Become a San Jose EAA Member of our nonprofit organization and Show Your
Support for a cleaner public transportation option.
