GoSun EV solar charger

I'm passing along news about something that looks interesting.? I don't have any actual experience with this product.

Ben

solar microgrid EV charging update

Howdy,

One of our members Tom McCalmont has his own company that has a solar powered charging station that provides shade for the EV parked under the solar panels.? On top of that, it can be installed in one day and is completely independent of the electric grid.? That means there is no connection to the electric utility company, no trenches for power cables, no getting permits, etc.

If you move, you can bring it to your new location (some assembly required).
It has battery storage so you can still charge even after the sun goes down.

The update below shows feedback from the media and their customer in Davis, CA.

Congratulations to Tom and his employees for a job well?done.

To: <jerry.pohorsky@...>

The enthusiasm and genuine appetite for alternative energy this year is unlike anything we¡¯ve seen before. Our solar microgrid EV chargers are now used by major cities, commercial and government customers, sustainable winemakers, and the military. The demand for expansions to the electrical supply is palpable as we ramp up production to meet demand in city after city that want clean, reliable, and resilient energy ¨C without the hassle of waiting years to expand grid capacity. Many of you have been subscribers to our newsletters since we delivered our first solar powered charging system in 2017. So we want to share with you that the media and the market are now on the same page as us! Check out some of their stories below where they tout PairTree as a ¡°unique¡± charging infrastructure that experts say is critical ¡°for a sustainable future.¡±

TOP STORY OF THE DAY

Our 34th President, Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower, may have been one of the first. Long before Ike became perhaps the 20th century's most famous general, Eisenhower drove around in an early electric car that belonged to his in-laws.John Sheldon and Elvira Doud, Eisenhower's father- and mother-in-law, owned the car¡ªa 1914 Rauch & Lang electric car. It had been advertised as the first EV in America with a top-mounted worm drive, and could be driven from the front or the back seat. At its top speed of 13 mph, it could be driven up to 100 miles, according to donation material supplied with the car in 1953.

Ike met their daughter Mamie in 1915 and asked her to marry him on Valentine's Day the next year. The two courted, then married on July 1, 1916. Ike drove the car often until it was donated to his museum.

The Douds, a well-off couple who raised Mamie in Colorado, bought the car for $4,300 in 1914. That's the equivalent of more than $135,000 today¡ªfar more than, say, a?.

San Jose EVA meeting Saturday July 13, 2024 10-12PM

Hello All,
If you are interested in Electric Vehicles, consider attending one of our
meetings.
All EVA meetings are free and open to anyone who is interested in
Electric Vehicles (EVs).
The meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of every month.
From 10 A.M. until 12 noon

The meetings are held at the Reid Hillview Airport terminal building.
Located at 2500 Cunningham Ave, San Jose, CA
Directions to the meetings are as follows.
Take Hwy. 101 to Hwy. 680 North, exit & turn right onto Capital
Expressway.
Travel on Capital Expressway West for approximately 2 miles;
turn right onto Cunningham. The meeting room is in the terminal at the
end of the road.
A typical meeting of the SJEVA is casual and informative. A round table
is held after chapter business is completed. Topics are typically very
technical from the folks who are building and driving real world electric
vehicles today. Come attend a free EVA meeting and learn from EVA members
who have been building and driving Electric Vehicles for 50 years.

Although it is very eco-friendly, growth in the wind turbine industry is slowing down. Today¡¯s wind farms generally employ Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWTs), but their construction involves the major logistical feat of transporting huge blades (as long as 118 meters) to locations that are often remote. However, as HAWTs cannot handle the most turbulent air, they must be placed high above the ground and far apart from one another.

Promising research out of CalTech, Stanford, and other universities predicts that Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs), which are placed less than 100 feet above the ground in wind farms under existing HAWTs, will create synergies such that the overall energy output from their simultaneous operation is greater than what each would produce on its own.

Our speaker Kevin Wolf co-founded Wind Harvest, a new company intending to introduce VAWTs. Their latest prototype has been able to operate in turbulent conditions at the UL test facility in Texas and achieve Technology Readiness Level 7. Core to this turbine¡¯s success is its use of a VAWT aeroelastic engineering model validated using an earlier prototype¡¯s field data. Out of this earlier experience, the engineering team came up with nine new inventions, including an innovative hinge design that is critical for the 70-year predicted fatigue life life based on a typical 15 million rotations per year.

Come to this event and learn about this innovative technology that could revive the wind turbine industry.

About the speaker,?Kevin Wolf?of?

Kevin Wolf is the CEO and co-founder of Wind Harvest. He has been an officer with the Company since 2006, and is an expert on vertical axis wind turbine technology and mid-level wind markets. Kevin is the author of papers published in industry magazines, and with California Energy Commission grants. His degree in Evolution and Ecology from UC Davis gives him a solid science background that is widely useful to the Wind Harvest.? Kevin is the company¡¯s expert on the synergy of VAWTs used in wind farms, their impact on birds and bats, and the Technology Readiness Level process, and one of the inventors of company patents.

Tue July 9, 2024 7pm PDT - Wind Energy: A New Approach for Capturing an Untapped Energy Source

I am coordinating this upcoming Wind Energy related presentation through IEEE-CNSV.
I would like to invite EAASV Members to join this event and register to attend either by Zoom or In-Person at SEMI in Milpitas.
Also open if EAASV?wants to be an official Co-Host.
Feel free to share with others that may be interested.

I have worked with Speaker Kevin Wolf and WindHarvest for more than 14 months.?
I think they have a good story and with the small physical size of the Windharvest units, they can contribute in a meaningful to generations of
wind power.
