***Glider Flying Opportunity Invite***

Fellow Chapter 646 members,
?I have been a member of another organization for a while and some may know of the QB. Every year in September we have a day of glider flying at New Castle. Some may know John Molumphy and he will be the Airboss for this event. I have gotten permission to extend an invite to our Chapter 646 for anybody that wants to do a glider flight. This will be on Sept 1st which is a Thursday at VA85 New Castle from about 1p to 5p. The airport is open to anybody that wants to fly in. Gliding will be $45 a tow and depending on lift some flights have lasted 45 minutes or more.? Let me know if you think you might like to do this and I will pass your name to John.? Alternately if you don't want to fly gliders but want to watch others fly and see the operation your invited as well to fly in or drive. There is a large parking area for your aircraft. Questions Comments please!

Regards,
Mike Brown??

Mike:?

I would be interested and would probably need to arrive by land transportation, (the small wheels on my plane would probably not do well on an off tar-mac "field" landing, I would need to remove my wheel pants at minimum).? I am sure that this event will be weather dependent,? I will converse with you in greater detail as the scheduled date gets closer.? Thank you for extending this invitation to "us" the members of the EAA 646 chapter.

Sincerely,
Ron Milan

Hi Mike,

?

I would be very interested in going to New Castle and taking them up on the opportunity.? I may bring my wife (Susan) as well, but she is not convinced about going up in a glider.? I will probably drive to the airport.

Hi Mike,
This poker run does look like fun. Do we gather at PSK to begin the run and what time or can we start from ROA ending at PSK. Also is there a cost, none was mentioned other than free food. It seems on motorcycle poker runs you purchased a card at each location.
I¡¯ve never been involved with anything like this so I don¡¯t know what to expect.

Re: 3rd time is the charm. Why I dojn't like iPad

The way I read it is you go to the 4 airports listed. You get a card at each airport. You end up at PSK to get the final card. The pilot with the best hand wins the prize. Pretty sure you have to be at PSK by 4p to win then get free food. I suppose you could ride a motorcycle to all the airports but flying would be more fun.

Anyone want to go?

I'm going to go flying tomorrow (Monday, Aug 29) morning.? I will probably try and get to the airport (ROA) around 7:30-8:00am.? I have no particular agenda, just going out to fly.? I will likely be out about 2 hours.? If anyone wants to come along with me, let me know directly either by email or text (704-681-2167).

It was a fun day yesterday at VA85. I will post a short YT video when I have time. We flew the LSK21 pulled by a Supercub
