And a little known "feature" of the APRS-IS is that if station Y sends a message addressed to station X which was heard by IGate A, then the next position report from Y will also be sent ot IGate A for forwarding onto the RF if desired.?? This allows X to know see Y's position, even if it is 1/2 way around the planet.

I presume it still works as it did, but it's been a couple of years.

Hi John,

The hangs were with DireWolf 1.7 ('dev' branch from 10/19/2022) running on openSuSE Linux. I plan to retry those same tests with the released version of DireWolf 1.6 that I have running on Ubuntu 22 LTS.

The test scenario is pretty simple and 2 out of 3 tests failed within just a few minutes..

Do you operate a Winlink RMS packet or BBS station, using Direwolf as a TNC? If so, what operating system runs Direwolf? Does Direwolf run continuously for days or weeks? Does it handle much traffic? Has it worked well for you?

I'm not asking about APRS stations or end-users of messaging, for example Winlink Express (AKA RMS Express) or Outpost.

I'm thinking of using Direwolf in some BBS stations that run on Ubuntu Linux, operate with three radios each, handle a good deal of message traffic and run 24/7 for months at a time. It would be nice to have some evidence that Direwolf can stand up to this kind of load. I hope it doesn't steadily use more and more memory, lose packets that flow simultaneously through several radios, or suffer from other software problems.
