[Off] Test on HF
Hi all, Slightly off topic. Is there any on-air regular net or BBS on HF, preferably 7MHz that I can use to test my installation? Or any volunteer I can arrange a QRX? Thanks and 73s, Levente, HA5OGL

How to change settings in Config?
OK, new to Direwolf.? Just getting it set up.? It is receiving, apparently, as I see traffic on the screen.? I am pretty sure (according to what I have read) that I have to change some settings in

Re: Upgrade to 1.6
That did occur to me but thank you for the idea. Unfortunately for me it still didn't work. See below: keithkaiser@Apparatus ~ % direwolf -c /Users/keithkaiser/direwolf-NEW.conf -t O Dire Wolf version

Re: Upgrade to 1.6
Try swapping these. Audio input device for receive: USB Audio CODEC:2? (channel 0) Audio out device for transmit: USB Audio CODEC:3? (channel 0) Note that 3 has only input and 2 has only output.

Re: Upgrade to 1.6
The cmake was indeed the missing part. So I now have version 1.6 and followed the instructions for the ADEVICE settings, here is what happens when I try to run it. keithkaiser@Apparatus ~ % direwolf

Re: Upgrade to 1.6
Sounds like you have to install cmake first.? Also, here's the latest user guide with installation instructions.? Install for Macintosh starts on page 30 of the guide:

Upgrade to 1.6
I have v1.4 which is not running, on my Intel MacBook Pro with Big Sur v11.3 but instead of getting this older version of Direwolf running I¡¯d like to upgrade the install to v1.6. So I changed the
Re: excessive messages fron servers - what is happening with IGates? -
Have you tried altering your range filters? Say start off with m/50 and see what quantity of packets you get from that, then adjust / alter your filters, and see what additional packets the APRS-IS

Re: excessive messages fron servers - what is happening with IGates? -
Jim, Great explanation, but I've done all of this. I already have enough filtering on everything. What I usually receive from the servers is maybe 100 or so an hour. But to get 119,755 packets an hour

Re: excessive messages fron servers - what is happening with IGates? -
Arnold, pure guess.. I suspect that the APRS system forwards packets to be transmitted based on one of two items. The first (least likely) would be what it calculates your coverage area to be. I have

Greg, I¡¯m very aware of Gapgte. But that¡¯s not it. It seems to be world wide feed when it happens Arnold

Re: excessive messages fron servers - what is happening with IGates? -
Hi Arnold, Check to see if it's coming from "GAPGTE". As I understand it, that station is basically forwarding some not-insignificant portion of the APRS-IS through RF to a cabin up in the Sierras

I'll watch and see what server(s) if/when it happens again. Arnold, KQ6DI

Re: excessive messages fron servers - what is happening with IGates? -
Hey Arnold, I can appreciate your situation here and while I can recommend some ideas, the real issue seems to be coming from the remote APRS-IS server. If you know the traffic was coming from a

Re: excessive messages fron servers - what is happening with IGates? -
Unfortunately I didn't capture what was being sent. I should have done a screen shot, but didn't. The three cases I've seen were on slower, MORE EXPENSIVE, internet connections, and my first reaction

Re: excessive messages fron servers - what is happening with IGates? -
Remember the IGate design is such that the upstream APRS-IS server forwards packets that the IGate MIGHT be interested in transmitting on RF.? Unfortunately, some IGate implementations (I cannot

By the time you looked, I had removed the filtering and the IGTXVIA 0 has been commented out. When I looked at the Screen for direwolf, it was constantly scrolling with stuff for the IGate to

Hey Arnold, Looking at this T2ONATARIO server by going to http://status.aprs2.net/ then doing a search for "T2ONTARIO", clicking on that to take you to http://72.38.114.30:14501/ . At the top of this
