Head of School Search - La Jolla Country Day School, La Jolla, CA 4
Very tempting but I am not competitive for it ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Resource Group 175 - Tom Hudnut, Debbie Reed and Rebecca Upham <news@...> Date: Mon, Nov 14, 2022, 8:00 AM Subject: Head of School Search - La Jolla Country Day School, La Jolla, CA To: <dan.pierce.buck@...> View this email in your browser Dear Dan: The opportunity to lead one of the West’s top K-12’s and to live in a cosmopolitan environment that features the finest climate of any metropolitan area in the world is one that doesn’t come along very often. La Jolla Country Day is a beautiful school in a neighborhood teeming with intellectual activity – hi-tech and bio-tech creators across the street and UC-San Diego next door. The school has a robust applicant pool, a successful capital campaign underway, a strong faculty, a solid Board, and an ebullient student body. What’s not to like? You can find more information by reading the Position Statement. If the opportunity at La Jolla Country Day School starting in July 2024 appeals to you, we urge you to apply through the RG175 candidate portal on the firm’s website. Just for the record 4
Until about a month ago I had never seen an old person give the middle finger but my mother has given me a double middle finger pretty much every 3 or 4 days for the past month or so for imagined injustices. In other news Caspian said the funniest thing a few days ago. He has this thing where he often puts his hand between his legs like on his penis. It's been going on for years and it's a tic and he's not aware of it.. usually when he gets stressed or whatever. He was practicing piano and he put his hand on his crotch while playing and I asked him if the piano piece as written asked him to put his hand on his penis and he pointed to a little paragraph on the page and said very seriously yes right here it says this is where it says to put your hand on your penis

Deep thoughts about creativity, commerce, and AC/DC 3
So to follow my train of thought here I need you to think like an alien. Forget about whatever you think about AC/DC. Whether you like them or hate them. Pretend that you're from a different planet discovering AC/DC for the First Time. The first question is can you do that? So this is basically what happened to me the other day when Caspian reminded me that there's a song that he knows from a cartoon movie it sounds a lot like "Thunderstruck." It's probably a cover in a Pixar movie or something. So anyway I listened to the song and watch the video with him and I kind of saw it from his eyes and I appreciated these things in order.. remembering of course that that song and a few others were major hits... 1. The sheer boldness of the song and the loud drum drum 2. They clearly intended to make it an anthem 3. The virtuoso guitar playing is amazing 4. The dudes in the video.. that is, the band. Just how they look. Their imaging. They're rock stars. 5. And then everything is set up for the main guy to start singing. And I don't know his name. And even though I know how AC/DC sounds I don't think I ever watched the lead singer sing before. 6. you see this guy in a watch cap. He just today to me looks like a dirty cab driver or something and he's just sort of like standing on stage of the microphone in the video. 7. And then I appreciate it how high his voice is and amazing his voice is but also how they chose him in the beginning ..or they found each other or whatever and they just wanted that sound just that super high voice. 8. And how the combination of all of that... The specific type of music... The guy's voice... The boldness of the song.. the drum beats.. it was exactly what the world wanted. It hit the spot of that exact taste that millions of people wanted. And of course if they had never existed and this band suddenly came right now while rock for the moment is dead it's highly unlikely it would be as big now as it was back then. I think they would be just like a cult hit And really any hit could be boiled down to something like that but when you look at it with 20/20 vision it seems both very complex and very easy. and as we all know that exact same combination could have come together in a high school and for whatever reason and just didn't take off. Nobody just gave a shit. I read recently that I think it was a early manager of the Beatles that he was a young guy that I like their age. I think he was like 26 or 27 at the time. And he just died. But the Beatles were playing in cheap bars and pubs for years or something and this guy was the one who always believed in them. And now it seems ridiculous like.. no doubt about it the Beatles were destined to take over the world but maybe that passionate guy played a major part of it. Deep thoughts

This email is not about Christian's Colonoscopy 13
He's had one at 40. And now at 45. That's all I know. But this email is not about Christian. Or Ryan Reynolds (who just had a colonoscopy on a bet and found a polyp). Or Burt Reynolds (who Christian did just tell me he would have his role in Deliverance out of let's say if 4 of us were the characters..meaning obviously Christian would play Lewis because he's the coolest and most fit) (who would be Bobby/Ned Beatty? Don't say Reechard.) This email is about me. I guess about a month ago I had my first physical at Sandra's urging. I know you say 'That's crazy' but it's because I've been abroad, we haven't had the greatest insurance, whatever. So I had a physical. Everything seemed fine. He stuck his finger up my rectum. Bloodwork. Yeah. And then a few days later he said that I have extremely high cholesterol and moderately--unusually high PSA (Prostate-specific antigen). PSA is a possible indicator of prostate cancer. So I had a 4K test about 3 weeks ago. It said, basically, that I have a 19% chance of prostate cancer by also measuring my PSA level. Then I had an MRI. And by the way the MRI was fucking weird. Not like the movies but like something that I can't really describe in an email very well. Very loud and 1970s like and sickening and weird. And then while we waited for the results my family and I watched My Girl for the first time and one of the kids says, 'Prostate cancer. Once you get that, you're done.' So I finally got the results yesterday and on a scale from 1 - 5 for the MRI where 1 means 'normal blood flow' and 5 means 'lightning fast blood and cancer apparently' I had a zero. The doctor said he had never seen it before. For the time being I don't believe I have prostate cancer. I will go to the urologist every 6 months to check on my PSA levels. I'm not going to get a biopsy though the doctor says it's a valid choice. Who knows. What I believe by doing just a little bit of research (you can also easily Google yourself). 1. Men who enjaculate A LOT have higher PSA in their blood. 2. Statistically I ejaculate twice as much as people my age. I'm a solid 6 / 7 days a week. And that's it. Christian did tell me yesterday he is getting a colonoscopy. And he said it is ok to tell you. There are no symptoms as far as I know. He is doing it because he is 45. "These are the rules." Like that guy in Saw. "These are the rules." Dan

Two Deep Thoughts
1. When you watch a woman put on her panties, or you look toward the crotch area on a woman wearing a fine pair of panties or a bikini bottom or whatever, there is always something that seems so...elegant, beautiful, with the lack of bulge in the genital region. Streamlined. Cute. Maybe because it's just so different than our own penises we briefly picture what that's like and it feels sexy and weird, or maybe simply because it's a pussy under there and it's only imaginarily interesting about the streamlined mannequin-like void. 2. I think here's something we should all go for. Let's say at some point some of us get divorced. Or our wives die. Or whatever. Let's aim for getting married to two women at the same time and sleeping with them every night. I think that would be cool.
