A good idea, but we have to collaborate
So the other day an idea flashed my mind that I laughed out loud about and I think it's a really good idea. It's something that I don't have the time to do solely by myself and I do think there is a sort of time limit on this idea. Picture this... A book on Amazon called The Mike Pence Diaries and basically it's the behind-the-scenes, full of rage, the side you don't see, of every notable event over the past four years. Like the recent black fly on his head episode would have a diary entry about that. If just a couple of you were interested... We could together come up with let's say 40 different entry topics and divide the work up. I feel like if we had enough of us working on this it would be like 12 hours of work for each of us total or something like that. And then I guess we could self-publish it. Interested? Dan

Hey there, I am writing an article for Mensa again--the main hope is to sneak in a Little News Ears shout out--and I'd like your help with editing / improving it. I've shared it with you as a Google Doc and it is also below. How to Remove a Potato from a Toilet For those of you who truly want to know how to extract a potato that was flushed into a toilet, I’ve got you covered. The main reason I am writing this is not to teach you how to remove a potato from a toilet, but to share the true creative, innovative, and intellectual joy I felt when I actually accomplished this feat. Neurotransmitters were shooting in my brain that I haven’t felt in years. Maybe people who work with their hands feel like this every day? Not sure. So the first thing that you have to know is that if you do put a potato into your toilet and you Google things like “potato flushed toilet’ or “Potato clog toilet” there are comments on message boards from 2011 or so that say things like: "I believe I have the easiest fix of all: threaten to sue the landlord and share pictures on social media." ‘Wait two months. The potato will rot eventually’ “An M80” Accepting that I was on this mission on my own (alas, I have no landlord to sue) (with my wife helping me move the toilet and my son, the offender, helping me with the garden hose, as I will eventually get to, I thought the solution would be to get what is sometimes referred to as a toilet snake. It has a fairly sharp rubber arrowhead. You turn the wheel. The snake goes down and cuts through whatever is stuck. I think it’s meant to be like a low tech version of those spider robots in Minority Report. Remember? In retrospect, I guess it’s obvious that a rubber arrowhead wouldn’t hew through a raw potato. So here is the solution. Turn off the water to the toilet. Drain all the water from the toilet. My wife and I did this by siphoning water from the chamber in the back (which we learned from brewing beer) and eventually just pouring the rest of the water out down the sewage pipe.. Remove the toilet screws. These are probably called something else. Toilet bolts? Let’s just call them toilet screws. Turn the toilet over onto its side. See if you can see the potato through the other side--i.e., the bottom of the toilet (it seems very meta to think that a toilet has an anus, but, well, it does). Note, if the potato is not in your toilet, but is actually in your sewage pipe, you probably need to call a plumber. Try to use the snake or a coat hanger to take the potato out if you can see it from the bottom. I had dreams of using a corkscrew somehow. “Could I get my 6 year-old to stick his hand in there with a corkscrew? Should I make him?” If this doesn’t work, take your toilet outside. Turn your toilet upside down. Place a garden hose as far as you can into the back of the toilet. Kind of like an enema. Note: You may need to angle the toilet so the potato can fall out more easily. Blast water through the toilet, backwards. No surrender. You did it! If you look carefully you can see the potato. I literally shouted, ‘The potato is out!’ three times. Victory was mine! Just a truly amazing feeling. The question I have for you now is this: how can we recreate a struggle like this every day when we get to creatively problem-solve? And what should the consequences be for my son?

So check this out... All of a sudden today I get a call from this academy above from Maryland. I applied for a job like a month ago or so. And the interview is for tomorrow which is weird in itself Can I ask Facebook friends about that school because it's in Maryland I don't know about it And I was created by the same people who owned Sinclair broadcasting And I really believe it's because of the Ben Carson thing at the top of the website. They went on the website today it says Lou Dobbs, Ben Carson, and told me Lauren all like little news ears

This is a genuinely humorous story, but you've got to read it slowly. Caspian and Sky often sing that song by the way, 'Good Girls Gone Bad.' Because it's on my phone. Because back when I lived in Sao Paulo music videos were still big and Cobra Starship was big. And because Leighton Meester is so fucking hot in the video. Oh, just give it a minute or two. I could jerk off just thinking about showing you the video. Too bad she isn't pretty anymore. Sad. So anyway, as most of you know I spent Sunday - Tuesday in LA being wined and dined and also interviewing with various constituencies of a Jewish Kabbala school. There were red flags before I went and there were....more than 5 more red flags while there and I highly doubt I will accept that job. So one of the events was a 'meet the parents.' thing at one of the board members' houses. Right in Beverly Hills. And so I was sitting around outside with ten pretty normal looking parents, slightly Jewish looking ("what does that mean?"), some of them, and there was this youngish couple across from me with a particularly douche-baggy guy. All or most of these people are anti-vaxxers. These type of awkward things came up in the conversation. But this one douche-baggy guy in particular kept challenging me on everything. 'YOU DO A KIDS NEWS WEBSITE? WHAT'S IT CALLED?' 'WHAT ARE YOUR SOURCES?' 'WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL BELIEFS ABOUT VACCINATION?' shit like that. Everybody else at the event was perfectly normal, or acted like it, except this couple. This guy in particular. When the parents left this guy came up to me and was genuinely nice and different. But he acted like such a douchebag. So an hour or so later I had dinner with the main board guy and his wife at a fancy restaurant near Rodeo Drive. I mentioned the douche baggy guy and he was like, 'Oh yeah, that guy is just like that. He used to be the bass player in some band. They had a hit song or two.' Then he looked it up in his phone. Cobra Starship. Eric Halvorsen. One douchebag. Good girls gone bad.
