MT-3 low-band modules programming for 6-meters?

Is it possible to program the MT-3 low-band modules up to 6-meters? The BCD switch programming tables top out at 50 MHz.

I think the answer is that it depends. The synthesizer VCO needs to be able to lock up in that frequency range which might take adjustment to hit 6 meters.

In terms of the BCD switches, there should be a formula in the manual to calculate the switch settings for frequencies that aren't listed. I have also found success with UHF and VHF modules by connecting a frequency counter to the synthesizer output and adjusting the BCD switches to get to the desired frequency. When working with the receive modules, you need to add or subtract the IF frequency -- depending upon whether you are using high or low injection. You can start with the highest frequency in the frequency table and try to walk it up from there using the frequency counter. If it goes out of lock, you can try adjusting the synthesizer.

Note that I haven't personally done this on the lowband modules, so I don't know their actual limits.

Yes they will go up. The RX frontend requires the most work.

Yes Mike, a friend and i have done at least 4 of them and we both have "on-the-air" 6 meter Daniels repeaters.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies on putting low-band modules on 6-meters!

With respect to the synthesizers, I have had to open up the synthesizer on low-split UHF modules and tune for a lock when moving to the ham band since the synthesizer only covers a 1 MHz bandsplit. About an hour-long project--mostly in getting access to the synthesizer module. and then putting things back together.?
?
So now I will try this with the low-band modules and use the frequency formula to determine the BCD switch settings.
